Personally, I think it's probable that other living creatures are 'out there'. Whether or not they're intelligent, we may never know. Whether or not they have space travel, we may never know. Whether they've actually visited us, who knows?
The universe is a damned big place, I don't know how they would manage to find us, especially since we've only been 'broadcasting' our presence for a few decades now. They'd have to be pretty close by in galactic terms to 'hear' us making noise.
Then again, maybe we're the only intelligent species out here so far. Perhaps we're the first ones and we'll never meet anyone else because we'll be long gone before they evolve.
I am inline with your thoughts as well. I am almost positive there is other life out there,it is just tooooooo big a universe for us to be the only life. I am just not convinced they have ever been here or if they are even capable.
The bible is nothing more than a collection of stories from civilizations all over. Plagiarized really. Imagination, absolutely, they had no clue of science or how the world works or came to be.
I am on the fence as far as aliens are concerned, again, I dont know why they would not make their presence known to us. Surely if they can come all that distant they must not be afraid of our little weapons.
Well...they may have made their presence known.
they may be responsible for the long life spans mentioned in the Bible (inter-breeding) but may also be inhibited from frequent visitation because of the time involved in sapce travel
They may also be responsible for the stories from 'all over' that ended up with the Bible eventually becoming the best known 'collection'.
Could be promises to return are why there are tales of 'end days'.
Could be the JW's hollaring about the 140,000 was some kind of a mention about how many might be able to be removed from this planet when it became necessary.
Like I said....some amount of fun when looking at things this way

Aliens are much easier to believe in than some invisible god.

Agreed. I would be really excited if there was concrete scientific evidence of earth being visited by intelligent aliens in the past, and if that were the case then I'd not be surprised if that's where all the ancient god-myths came from.
After all, if one of us traveled to a place where everyone was of stone-age development, wouldn't our simplest things appear as if they were god-like magic to them? Think of a nomadic cave-dweller being presented with a simple box of matches, or a folding knife, or a handgun, or binoculars. Sheer magic to a primitive being!
But until I see proof of such visits, I'll just have to maintain disbelief. Gosh, quite like my disbelief in deities.
And so why can't God be part of the other life in the universe?
This is part of the 'disprove God' package incorporating 'have you looked everywhere in the universe?'
Atheism is twofold. It does not see any convincing evidence for any First cause creator, not even Pantheist/Deist god or Einstein's intelligent computer that orders the universe. The evidence isn't there and so we logically have to be agnostic about it And the logical belief position of agnosticism is atheism as one cannot logically believe in what one does not know to be so.
The other 'fold' is all and any of the personal gods on offer and they and their Holy Books are so much hogwash. They really, truly, are. So are the non -theist religions. They fall under the same parameters: no good evidence to support their claims.
So the main thrust of atheism going for religion - that's what we are doing because we have to tell the truth - is the religious claims about what is going on here on the earth, not a vague 'sortagod somewhere in the universe' claim. We could be sympathetically agnostic about that other than when it is used as part of the 'Leap of faith' from First Cause to JesusGod.
If 'God' is part of other life in the universe - or as Charlotte might say, other life in the universe is advanced enough to be 'God' - that is their problem, so to speak. The real point is that there is no god here. There really isn't. And that is all that atheism needs to demonstrate. Possible 'gods' elsewhere in the universe are amusing speculations but are neither here nor there in the debate.
