Did God teach Reading and Writing to Adam and Eve?
Or was the story of The Garden of Eden, and the other storys like The Flood just passed on by story tellers until reading and writing was developed?
We don't have a biblical record to answer your first question from a biblically sound standpoint.
From a religiously practical standpoint, I believe that God revealed what He wanted Moses to record in the book of Genesis and it didn't have anything to do with stories handed down by men. It was a direct inspiration from God. From the Father, to Moses, to us.
The Bible is not a collection of stories handed down by men, that may be where your issues with the stories in it stem from. The Bible (as a work) is a letter to man from God.
Alpha is correct, the Bible is not just a bunch of stories handed down by man, it is God's Word. 2 Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right".
Ok, then why are people so positive that every word of those early happenings is 100% true?
Wouldn't the story tellers have told the stories in a manner that the listeners would understand and accept?
Have you heard of the Norse Sagas? They are Scandinavian oral traditions, stories handed from one generation to another by word of mouth. Some people were set apart as the story tellers and they dedicated much of thier time memorizing the sagas, being taught from the senior story teller, they learned them word for word and told them for thier whole lives. It cannot be proven for certain that these stories didn't change, but the evidence that shows that they didn't is that all of them were able to tell the same stories almost exactly the same way. Of course, the tradition isn't the same as it used to be and the sagas are mostly all written down by now, that is evidence to show that an oral tradition can remain virtually unchanged if done right. Stories like Noah's Ark, there are many stories from the same area that are very similar, almost exaclty the same in fact, with very minor differences, this is evidence that a story can survive if passed on orally. And I imagine that divine inspiration would do it a good bit of help as well

You say that the Bible is "God's Word" and that is not a true statement. To the Christian and Jews, the bible is God's word, but to others it is not. Statements such as this, in my opinion is the problem with religion. Everyone religion makes definitive statements about the religious writtings of their respective religion being "The Word of God", while totally showing a total disregard for other religions or beliefs.

Well, when the question is based on the Bible (Jewish Bible or Old Testament to Christians, also accepted doctrine of Muslims) and is asked as if the story of Adam and Eve were actual characters, it makes perfect sense to address the Bible as fact. Now, were we having a conversation that involved multiple belief systems, I at least would be obliged to say "I believe the Bible to be the word of God" rather than "The Bible is the word of God" I for one am trying to keep things in context, when somebody asks questions about the Bible, it only makes sense to use the Bible to answer them. Simple as that. Now, stating the Bible as fact on an evolution thread, that would be inappropriate, but I don't think it's a crime to do so here.
