I heard a local store advertising that they would be open first thing in the morning??
Tomorrow is Sunday. What are they thinking? You can lose business in this area by acting like that. Today is Christmas and tomorrow is Sunday. At least give it a rest until Monday.

My personal opinion is that businesses should be open 24/7. Sunday is just another day.

Good. Sunday isn't a special day just because it's Sunday. Neither is Christmas, which is why some stores around here were open for a half day today, which is fine with me.
It's pretty simple really. If you don't like that stores are open on Sundays, then don't go shopping on Sundays. Other than that, no one really has the right to tell others how to run their business.

It's not that simply really. In places where everyone isn't brainwashed to think they have to be in church, businesses open sundays makes it really convenient to get things done.

Here many places are open on Sunday, but most don't open until 11am or later. It's inconvenient for us non-churchgoers, but it's understandable from the business owner's point of view. There likely wouldn't be enough customers in the morning to justify paying two or more employees to be there because most everyone in town is either at church before that, or sleeping in anyway. That makes Sunday morning an excellent time to go for a walk or bike ride, because all the people who would normally yell, honk, or throw things at you are in church.

I too prefer to do my shopping on Sunday morning while people are otherwise occupied and think it would be nice if more were open. However, I stand by what I said. Private businesses should have the right to run them however they see fit, which usually is whatever makes them the most money. Those who don't like it can shop elsewhere. If enough people do that, and the businesses lose money, then *they can choose* to change their store hours. If they are in an area that isn't worth it for them to be open at certain times, then why should they have to be open just because it's convenient for ME or for YOU? I'll just give someone else my business instead. No big deal.
That goes both ways. Some people don't like them being open on Sundays, such as the original poster. But if a store wants to be open and put everything on sale, that's their business. (and darn right I've already been out today for those after christmas sales)

As long as they don't also close early "because it's Sunday", it isn't inconvenient at all. It's inconvenient when they are closed.
Yesterday being Christmas, I had a nice peaceful walk to the bank, didn't have to worry about people pulling up behind me at the ATM (I'm on foot, but it's the only ATM the bank has) while I'm getting the rent money out of the bank.
