To me the answer is an obvious yes, so I changed the channel, kinda felt weird about letting that into my home. Anyone else feel the same way?
Yes, to your first question, and yes to your second question. There's the old saying, "garbage in garbage out."

Did you know that Little House was not the old west but here in Minnesota?
No, I didn't know that. Are you saying that the filming took place there or that it's based on some historical events that happened in Minnesota?
Speaking of the old west, it's fun to go down to tombstone, Arizona which was actually the location of some famous old west events. This little town is out in the middle of nowhere and I can't imagine why anyone even decided to start a town there in the first place. Of course there's a commercialization of those events but it's a fun place to visit. When you visit the cemetery it looks like almost everyone buried there got shot or murdered in some fashion and it's the real thing. The movie Tombstone with Val Kilmer and Kurt Russell was filmed in Arizona although not at the actual town. A friend of mine was a police officer who was paid to be a security person when the movie was filmed. He told me some interesting stories.

We have cable and with over 150 channels, you would think there would be something worth watching...!!! HAH! We watch some of the old tv shows from the 60's, the science and the do-it-yourself channels. After that, there is not much at all worth turning the tv on for.

Oh man so true! My wife says this all the time. I say, ok I'll cancel the Directv. I get no comment after that.

Well thanks to Google and wiki I realized I am wrong. Maybe filming was here I'm not sure but there is a website that says the real life LHP was southwest of Independence, Kansas. Little House on the Prairie - Official Location

In wiki they say that location would put the Little House in Nowata, Oklahoma. Here's the ref: Little House on the Prairie - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

My husband and I don't watch any tv. We have it mainly for the kids and that we try to keep to a minimum (very supervised).

I'm not even sure why we have cable, to be honest.

Montana, I have to disagree with you. While television may not lead to violent behavior, it most certainly desensitizes us. If you don't believe it, tune into MTV some day.

If, like most of us on here, you haven't seen it in years-- be prepared to fall off your couch.

I guess Im a little old fashioned to, we only had three channels when I was growing up-abc-nbc-cbs, thats it. And they would sign off the air at around 1am or so...I lived for Dukes of Hazzard, today there are underlying themes, even in some cartoons.

So I assume you have a similar reaction to the depiction of Muslims or Budhists?

It always came across to me when I was growing up that the church I was brought up in did their best to keep us ignorant of what else was out there for fear we would get snatched by the other religion...or maybe we would hear logic in it. Depending on how you look at it.

Maybe knowledge causes people to question...therefore churches are affraid of knowledge.

with all due respect..its not fear of getting snatched up, it is out of reverence to God, and because I (we) feel that these religions dont worship the same God, and I dont want that in my house. Im not really concerned about anything else thats out there other than my God and what I feel he wants for me and my family.

Maybe you should look up the steps to brainwashing...isolating and keeping all other options out of their reach is a good start.

Your children will no doubt grow up to practice the same religion you do because they have no other choice...
