I'm just joking with you but really, have you ever been to El Paso? Good luck though, seriously.
I shall continue the ot with you. Why move to EP? Let's see, a 40k+ wage increase for hubby in a place that values academic research and is trying to become more research oriented. He'll be up for tenure early. Plus, it's a bigger Jewish community than I have here in Appalachia and they really wanted hubby to come. They are fully paying for our move, they are giving us $1500 just for us to fly there and look for houses, they got us into a preschool with a long waiting list for our boys with one phone call, we can buy a lot of house for the money there, I have some arthritic conditions and the weather there is more favorable for me, from people who live there, they say in attitude it's alot like NM and AZ which are two states I absolutely love, umm, that's some of the main reasons. Bottom line...It's a place that really wanted hubby and put together a package to prove it plus it fit my wants of more money for him, a city with a low cost of living, and more Jews.
If it's been for sale for over a year with no bites, then it's probably not worth the $200-$250 that you want for it. Bottom line, a house is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
We are looking at houses right now for our move, and if I saw someone bought a house for $85k just 6 years ago, no way would I offer $200k when I know it's a buyers market. Just food for thought.
Actually, that's a different house lol.
The house we are selling was a rental. We completely remodeled it inside and out. The appraisal came in at $169,000 and they screwed up and appraised it as a 3 bedroom instead of a 4 bedroom. We now have it listed at $119,500. Believe me, it's not because it isn't worth it. It's just that the real estate market in Arizona has pretty much crashed!
And I definitely know our house is worth $200,000+. We have a 4bd 2ba 2,000 sq ft house on an acre in the middle of town. The place was run down when we bought it 6 years ago. Since then, we have done a bit to it, plus the prices sky rocketed here. BUT, that's not to say that we will for sure get that much out of it with the way the market has gone down. But I will stay here forever before I GIVE this house away
First off, I would like to apologize if I have offended anyone in the forum lately. There is at least one person that I am pretty sure that I have offended (I'm sure you know who you are ), but if there are any others, please except my apology!
These last couple of weeks, I have had to deal with all kinds of crap that has just pushed me over the top.....
First of all I can't imagine that you offended anyone...even when you don't agree you aren't mean about it...not even snarky...so I'm sure you imagined the whole thing.
I am in the same boat as you with my life exploding...luckily I have the trips to the beach house every other week to distract me right now...but come the end of summer you can start sending me flowers to my padded room if things don't turn around soon...so I'll pray for you if you pray for me, OK?
My dear sister, I can so relate to what you are going through. Just this morning I had to encourage myself in the Lord. I heard a sermon called "God Shall Arise and Scatter All My Enemies" Psalm 68. God always comes in power and authority when we cry out to Him. I know when I am going through "Stuff" and it's causing me so much stress, I forget to count it all joy because we are not fighting flesh and blood. I know this is difficult, but maybe you can just pray for your neighbors who are giving you such a hard time. God can touch their hearts by His spirit.
Also, (and this also is difficult, to me anyway) God's ways are so much higher than ours. His timing always seems to stretch my faith. Ugh! The waiting causes us to see what's in our hearts. That's how He teaches me, anyway. Life is so hard at times. He's told me so many times, not to hold too tightly to the things of this world.
I think we all want to draw closer to the Lord and really get to know His heart, then life happens. The distractions, the kids, or grandkids, the car breaks down, we get cancer, somebody dies, we get divorced, we get widowed, we lose our jobs, etc., but God is still on the throne. Just keep praising Him through it all. Let's offer Him a sacrifice of Praise and thanksgiving, especially when nothing is going right. Tomorrow is a new day.
Let us cling to His word for He is faithful. It's just our emotions and all the pain we feel as human beings. We do have a high priest who feels our pain, and He loves each and every one of us.
I pray we will all rest in the Lord tonight and give Him all of our cares, for He cares for us.

Depends on where you're buying, Emjbulls.........
We bought our home a little over 3 years ago in Wash, DC suburbs of Northern Va for 450........today it's worth 650. I know the values since I'm a realtor.
I'm so sorry you are going through these woes! I couldn't hep but think of my Sunday school lesson this week when I read your post. It is in Habakkuk 1:2-13 and 3: 16-19. When your up for it read it. It teaches us that God knows our situatuion and will act on behalf of his children. When He does, it will be in just the right time the right place , and the right way. Our strongest position
is to trust the Lord and wait patiently on Him, finding joyful confidence as we anticipate His salvation. Now tomorrow when I post asking for prayer remind
me of this. Hope you have a peaceful day tomorrow and God bless you.
Love in Christ!!!

Kawpg.........we've all been there.....when we feel so overwhelmed by this world and our problems.....you know He is right there w/ you....and you know you won't have any crosses that you cannot bare......
But, this one song keeps coming to mind....not sure the title....
"When you think you've had enough ...of this life.........hold on...."
"When the day is done........hold on........"
"Everybody hurts....sometimes"
Thank you all for your wonderful encouragement!
I will definitely pray for you as well Irish, as I will also pray for everyone on here. And thank you irish for those kind words about me not being "snarky" lol.
Thank you Thefer, Beth ann, and Lilybell! You are all such loving, caring people. I can always count on you for being the "Quicker Picker Uppers"...OH YEAH, that's a Bounty paper towel commercial Just kidding!
You are all such wonderful people! It's nice to know, when we're feeling down, we can come on here and have a great group of friends support us.
I have some arthritic conditions and the weather there is more favorable for me
That should be true. West Texas is hot and dry like AZ and NM and it is cheaper. Las Cruces, NM is just a short drive from El Paso. That's actually a very attractive city. The thing about west Texas is that it's so barren and desolate but I do think you'll enjoy the climate and the only thing that's pretty expensive in Texas is property taxes. They don't have a state income tax so I guess they have to get the money somewhere. Good luck.
