Well, all I want to say is that I'm glad the scumbag was caught. He seems utterly unrepentant and disingenuous, too, which isn't surprising.

If an atheist is caught abuseing children in his care he would be prosecuted. If a Catholic priest is found abuseing children, they are protected.

All pedophiles should be vigorously prosecuted, of course.

But, ya know, according to a some interpretations of Matthew 19:12, in which Jesus seems to encourage castration, doesn't it make perfect sense that it should be mandated for convicted religious-figure pedophiles?

Who's to say it wouldn't bring them even Closer to God?

What makes is even more abhorrent is that these so called men of G-d bible thump and rail against the very acts they actually do.......

If you are going to condemn acts then DON'T do them........

Then there are the Christians who stand up and support these folks and say they are just being persecuted because they are Christian.....

I doubt that, since the numbers of atheists incarcerated is disproportionately small...It seems that when it comes to breaking the law atheists are much more moral than the religious.

Quote:
This article examines associations between self-reported religious affiliations and official offense histories among 111 incarcerated adult male sexual offenders. Four categories of religiosity were devised according to self-reported continuities and discontinuities in life-course religious affiliations: atheists, dropouts, converts, and stayers. ANCOVAs indicated that stayers (those who maintained religious involvement from childhood to adulthood) had more sexual offense convictions, more victims, and younger victims, than other groups. Results challenge assumptions that religious involvement should, as with other crime, serve to deter sexual offending behavior. Results are discussed in terms of social control and situational theories of crime.

You are of course aware that while Atheists compose about 15% of the general population, they represent only about 0.2% of the prison population in this country.

No, I guess you likely aren't as it is another of those inconvenient truths that believers ignore.

if the percentage of the population is lower then obviously their percentage of those imprisoned is goin to be significantly lower,i dont judge people as atheist/theist/agnostic/black/white/gypsy etc. or anything like that,i judge people as individuall's,.....obviously being atheist dosent make you better than anyone else just for being atheist, their are atheist's that do these horibble things too,we just hear more about them when they are supposily religious folk doing them, that was my point.
