I don't celebrate Easter except maybe as an excuse to go to my parent's house for some free grub.

Despite my lack of belief in God, I agree with the premise that it shouldn't matter what the origins of something were as opposed to how it's practiced now. Hell, there are Mayan temples galore but going to them only makes you a tourist, not a teenage-sacrificing priest.

I mean, yeah, if there are Christians out there who think Jesus was decorating eggs by dipping them in colored water during the Last Supper then I'd say they're mistaken and this thread might be applicable to them. But, if a Pagan ritual developed over time into a Christian ritual (I even colored eggs when I was a kid because it was fun - not because it was religious) then I don't see what the point of bringing it up is. Maybe a neat little history lesson but it really doesn't prove a whole lot about religious beliefs at all.

I can't stand Easter. It seems to be the only holiday that jumps all over the calendar without any apparent rhyme or reason.

I don't celebrate Easter. I keep Passover, because I believe that Yeshua/Jesus was the Passover Lamb. God gives us the option to chose how we will live our lives. Thanks for your input.

The "rhyme and reason" is that it is always the first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal equinox.

(Except in the Orthodox and Eastern Rite churches.)
