Default Handwriting on the Wall

We find this story in the book of Daniel, Chapter 5.

King Belshazzar of Babylon - son of King Nebuchadnezzar - was hosting a lavish party and during this party, a human hand appeared and wrote on the wall of his banquet room. He instructed his servants to find someone to interpret it so he would know what it meant. The queen summoned Daniel.

Daniel was a Jewish prophet who loved God. He was taken to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar when Jerusalem fell and also went by the name Belteshazzar. He, through God, interpreted the dreams of Nebuchadnezzar and was very wise and placed in a position of power in the kingdom. It was Daniel who interpreted the handwriting.

The handwriting was: Daniel 5:25-28 (NIV)

"This is the inscription that was written: Mene , Mene , Tekel , Parsin
"This is what these words mean:
Mene : God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end.
Tekel: You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting.
Peres: Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians."

That evening, Babylon was attacked, King Belshazzar was killed and the Medes and Persians took over the kingdom.
