Yes, indeed! Excellent movie.

His other one, Modern Industry, is an even better critique of social practices.
I often wonder if Chaplin got into trouble for making The Great Dictator once the atrocities of the concentration camps were known more fully - it was made during the war, so I imagine he might have been accused of callousness after the facts were known.

His ending (as shown in the video) certainly should, in any event, show that his motivations were extremely good. There's nothing like Hollywood to help mobiilize the thoughts and minds of Americans! I went Chaplin-Crazy earlier this year when I tried out Hulu-Plus and found out they had much of the Criterion Collection AND Chaplin! What heaven!

This same film ending was mentioned in another thread briefly - though I'm glad it received it's own thread here. It's worth discussing.

Too much irony. Tell people to go with their feelings, then at the end saying science rules, just a bunch of mixed up rubish.
