It's my understanding that a reason for the prohibition against eating pork (and certain other foods) is because that's what the Gentiles ate, and the Jews are supposed to be a people apart from others. If we were to eat the same foods as the Gentiles then we would be more likely to join the Gentiles in their public feasts, and thereby become more easily assimilated.
yuppers. study thy enemy and we might realize they are us.
that "mixing" needs to be stopped at all cost, even if we have to lie about it.

You're welcome to convert to Judaism, if you want to "mix" with us that badly. A lot of people don't want to "mix" with us, however. Historically, because they think we should have converted first.

no, but thanks. I think some religionist use a statement of belief about god (anti-god or my-god-only) to push a less valid statement of belief on others to control them. And using something as stupid as eating pork or not because god said so is an indication that we aren't any sooner out of this mess they we were 100,000 years ago.

It isn't that - with atheists, at least. St.Paul put his finger on it: gentiles can't be doing with all the rules and regulations. But we're happy to socialise.

I have friends of different religions (as well as friends with no religion at all). But, historically speaking, socializing with Gentiles hasn't always gone so well for the Jewish people. It didn't help the assimilated German Jews of the early 20th century.
God was SO smart! So many food rules and circumcising after 8 days.
I hope everyone has read ''The Maker's Diet".
Pigs - He knew they were so filthy! (I hear they are not anymore.)
Rule of thumb - do not eat bottom feeders!!! Fish have to have scales...no shell fish!
On a chart to give an example:
Broccoli =+25 alkaline (good)
red meat=-25 acid (bad)
pork = -39 acid (so bad)
I over heard a college student talking to his friends
at a sidewalk cafe---"Man.. pork is terrible -eat it...you'll see!
I had some and felt my whole energy drop, man!"

Pigs are scavengers. They will root up and eat dead things, including, potentially, human corpses. Which makes them unclean.
All one should have to do is google swine and worms. I wouldn't recommend it before lunch, a pig can give you the nastiest parasites you ever saw. What is really creepy is that a parasite can actually take over a person's mind and basically, partially control a person.
Google pork worms on the brain, pork worms in your eyes, and click images to see if you might want a parasite lol, doesn't stop me from eating pork, but dang.

That's right...Tho - farming has changed that, they say.
That would make a difference in 2019.
