to believe in a mythical creature that decides for you and guides you, is brainwashed thinking...
To believe everything has always been here or is without purpose is plain narrow minded and ignorant thinking. I mean how would you even know if God existed or not.

The idea of God exists in the minds of those who constantly put forth his existence based on very weak evidence. And this is what atheists are angry at - the incessant, extraordinary, and surpremely confindent (arrogant) claims about metaphysical beings and everyone elses eternal torment if they refuse to do likewise (and other abusements of character). That concept and attitude, when lacking evidence and promulgated in such manner, is worthy of anger. And that is without the accompany hypocrisy and other BS.
I disagree Vansdad, everything has purpose, just not the holy biblical purpose..it's narrowminded to believe there is a place you go to after you die...that you'll see loved ones again, etc...that some big guy in the sky is ruler of it all...
Another way to look at it is that people especially in the US look at God through the eyes of Christianity, look at the Christians making the news, etc and simply decide they just don't buy into Christianity and God gets the boot too. I think a lot of people do believe in God but not organized religion and are therefore thought to not believe in God. God and Christianity are not one and the same. Many religions and people without a religion believe in and worship God.

you can get support from a bottle of whiskey , therapist or even an astrologist , support is not something tangible
People use the bible like a drunk uses a lamp post, solely for support of their actions but certainly not enlightenment.
