Missing links are found almost everyday. Not complete yet , sure, but as every year goes by the theory gets closer to a proven fact. Why do you think we have the same number of digits as a dog or a porpoise? Why is 95% of our DNA the same as other mammals? There is certainly a lot less evidence of a God. Which might be just as well in view of the nasty things "He" does to us .

What transitional fossils? You mean these...

Like 90% of the so-called transitional fossils are drawing or incomplete pieces of fossils. The few complete fossils they have are in no way indication that they morphed into the species that evolution claimed they did.

For Jeremiah4 a challenge...or a request for co-operation in an experiment, rather.

At any rate we can see why many people don't believe in evolution. I can see why it looks like a persuasive case. It is a false one, based on denial of the evidence and demands for proofs a lot more difficult than God turning my drinking - water into wine (which would make a christian of me, but of course it doesn't happen).

The evidence is there, the explanations are there, the intermediary stages are there (even if they are not the complete sequence of complete skeletons that creationists demand) and even where there is no evidence, there are some feasible hypotheses.

Goddunnit has no explanation and never will have, because it is magic. It also has no evidence, only objections to evolution theory, some false, some misunderstood and some fair enough, but evolution theory and evidence still has more going for it (rationally) than Goddunnit.

But Jeremiah doesn't see it that way and so it comes back to the OP - why don't they believe evolution or at least accept that it is the best explanation?

I wonder, Jeremiah, though evolution has been done to death here until I'm almost sick of arguing the same points over again, whether it might be worth going over your objections and just see whether they are fair (the one about men turning into aliens is as daft as the one about dogs giving birth to cats - it is not evolution's fault that creationists don't understand the theory) and to where or which theory the evidence (fragmentary or not) indicates.

It wouldn't require you to accept evolution, far less stop believing in God (because evolution doesn't disprove God - it just makes Genesis a bit metaphorical) and it might whittle your case down to the REAL reasons why you don't believe evolution, and I bet they will be a feeling that Darwinism is an atheist religion which is a threat to Christian faith.

Are we up for it?

The Theory of Evolution of the Species has a root of Atheism which is alien to those who believe in Lord Jesus and His creative abilities of life , so pass of the theory

Mark Twain said that man was made at the end of the week’s work when God was tired. Charles Darwin proposed that man descended from the apes, but had little hope for improvement as a species, observing: "Man scans with scrupulous care the character and pedigree of his horses, cattle, and dogs before he matches them; but when it comes to his own marriage he rarely, or never, takes any such care. . . ." Charles Darwin, Descent of Man, Ch. XXI, "General Summary and Conclusion" (1871). Twain, who was an astute observer of human nature, had some doubts about Darwin’s theory of evolution by natural selection, and was of opinion, that if man descended from the apes, that the apes were the "higher animals." See Mark Twain, The Damned Human Race (1916); republished as Letters from the Earth (1962). Either way you want to view it, we don’t come out looking very good.

It's not a question of wanting to believe or not believe. That has nothing to do with the facts.

All of the evidence clearly points in one direction. And that direction is the common descent of all life on earth.

I think a supreme being wanting to sneeze onto a dirt-pile and then again into some rag-doll's nose is miraculous, too!

Isn't it?

Evolution has nothing at all to do with atheism. Most theists accept evolution, except those in the US and theocratic nations.

Evidence for evolution no longer depends solely on transitional fossils since the advent of DNA mapping...Ever hear of it?

I'm aware of that but mapping the DNA proves absolutely nothing about evolution.
