Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Yes but is has as cool as the most interesting man in the world.
I refuse to choose! I imagine they could go on quite the adventures together.
Seriously though, I've always liked literature dealing with Lucifer. He's a fascinating character. The comic book Lucifer is really great in this regard. It's got really interesting things to say about the nature of free will and what is "right."
Wow, what a funny interesting thread full of insight. lol
So, I'm no closer but no further away from my answer.
But, I'm enjoying looking for the answer, is that evil of me? lol

I think Pleroo pretty much summed it up with his first post in this thread. While some think he's a real dude sitting in hell, other find him to be purely metaphor. I think he's a great character, but nothing more than that. An interesting fiction.
I always find it interesting that some people think that Satan, in the Christian sense, is somehow antithetical to God. Sure, he rebelled, but since God knows everything anyway, he probably let it happen. And God sends "damned" souls to him anyway. Satan isn't God's adversary, he's his puppet.
(That's why I find Lucifer to be a fascinating character. Even in his rebellion he's just God's puppet. How's that for a kick in the pants? All for having the gall to not want to be a servant/slave. But such is life for those who choose to believe in the Abrahamic God.)
A creature that was born from Pagan myths (Pan) cloven feet with a tail & horns. The Christians gave him a pitchfork & gave him the ablity to influence humans even posses them to doing what he wanted them to do.
Christians need a boogyman so thier God could come in a save them from themselves. Classic good VS evil nothing more.
I don't think that the evil in this world comes from an external source, it comes from within.
We all have a dark side, some people are just unable to accept it and need something/someone else to blame instead of accepting responsibility for their own behavior.

Pretty cowardly IMHO.
From a Christian perspective, there is no "blaming" Satan. We are all responsible for our own choices & actions.
