The gospel is foolishness
“For the message of the cross (the gospel) is foolishness to those who are perishing (spiritually),
but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written:
‘I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.’
… For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God
through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.” (1 Corinthians 1:18-21)
“But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing (spiritually),
whose minds the god of this age (Satan) has blinded …” (2 Corinthians 4:3-4).
Man’s natural condition is spiritual blindness, and this needs to be overcome.

So, God chose the foolish to believe
“For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh,
not many mighty, not many noble, are called.
But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise,
and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;
and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen,
and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are,
that no flesh should glory in His presence.” (1 Corinthians 1:26-29)

Those not chosen are spiritually blind
Historically, man has always been a spiritual idiot ... just look at all of the different religions, cults, etc.
Jesus commissioned Paul to evangelize …

“… the Gentiles, to whom I now send you, to open their eyes, in order to turn them
from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God …” (Acts 26:17-18).
“But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing (spiritually),
whose minds the god of this age (Satan) has blinded …” (2 Corinthians 4:3-4).
Paul describes the Jews of his day (who inherited the promised curses) …

“But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted
in the reading of the Old Testament … But even to this day, when Moses is read,
a veil lies on their hearts (so they just cannot comprehend).” (2 Corinthians 3:14-15).
“Just as it is written: ‘God has given them a spirit of stupor, eyes that they should
not see and ears that they should not hear, to this very day.’ ” (Romans 11:8).

God chooses some ... and they believe
“And as many as had been appointed to (chosen for) eternal life believed (in the gospel)” (Acts 13:48)

Somehow, you need to get chosen by God to be granted eternal life in Heaven with Him.

Been there, done that, got the tee shirt. And I really have no need for an afterlife nor do I fear death.

Most folk here do not take the bible as an authoritative book any more than Moby Dick. Both are a work of fiction.

How very Calvinista of you. If all that's true, then there is no point in me doing anything. God has already chosen those he will since he's all omniscient and everything.

Satan's a pretty powerful guy for entity that is supposedly under God's control isn't he?

Default I think you may have to re-examine it all!

Dunno 'bout that one, Seeker.

You obviously have not been reading The Extended Worx of Eusebitroll The Magnificent!.

Therein he explaineth it all! Thus God hath shown and given you a glorious pathway away from sure purgatory!

I love God too much to reduce such Powerful Goodness, to a mere idol of ink and wood.

You got it wrong, Christianity is not an immoral system, as it shows that the spirit of the false prophet, will have evil fruit , and will not be able to produce good fruit , and the fruit of the spirit of Christianity is love, joy, peace, unselfishness suffering, gentleness, goodness, trust or faith...... were the works of the evil which Christianity is not and the false prophet claims are : Selfish adultery, fornication, uncleanness. lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, heresies, Envying, drunkenness, revelings, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions,........ See unless you have a witness of the living God through Lord Jesus Christ, then you will never get the truth of the ages right ever.
