To use your example, we are not born with perfect health. Many babies die within hours of birth.

Many more live many many years past birth. Some babies are born perfect, this means without birth defect and completely healthy.

umm... never said that EVERYONE is born in perfect health. But the majority of humans that are born are born without defect, and are (speaking medically here) perfect.

Homosexuality isn't a birth defect. It is 100% natural. Do you not watch Animal Planet or the Discovery channel? Were you not paying attention in biology class?

Interesting that I don't see Homosexuality on the list of birth defects. Even if a baby is born with a infection, once the infection is healed, it is by all definition still perfect.

A bit of a flaw there. Plenty of gays are parents - artificial insemination, surrogate mothers, etc.

Gays are an example of The Other. Fundamentalist Christianity (where most of the resistance to gays comes from) is all about the traditional nuclear family. People who aren't married, heterosexual, don't abstain from sex outside of marriage, etc., are seen as enemies of "traditional family values". Christianity has a history of dispatching its enemies without mercy.
