I would argue that the question justifies atheism. Learning both the Job and Abraham stories as a kid made me recognize that this G-d character was not one I had any interest in and was not worthy of my respect or worship.
What's bad is a deity asking humans to do horrific things in order to prove a point. That's suffering - realizing that you are so lost in the woods that you would do anything for your deity, even kill your innocent child.
