To go on a bit about the poor, starving kids in whatever country.
In Canada, there's a type of "save the kids" commercial for American children who are poor, don't get health care, etc.
That should give us pause.
I've been to Canada several times but I've never seen that commercial. Personally, I think it's funny, but given the state of our current health care crisis I can understand how this may look to a country who really does do a good job in taking care of their people as far as health care is concerned.

Our country (UK) has it's very poor children too. About three years ago Tesco (a very large supermarket over here) was collecting for 4 million underfed children in the US. Can't remember the term they used to cover this group. I found it hard to believe at the time.
God doesn't have much to do with why the US has it better off than many countries.
many countries still have lingering ideals of antiquity, as where the US got a pretty fresh foundation.
The US also has it good because we are resource gluttons.
as far as god blessing the US, that's pretty true, for some. But 60 years ago the black people probably didn't find the US to be all that blessed (many still wouldn't today), nor would the native americans even today.
We aren't blessed we are privileged, and it comes at the cost of someone else.
