Do not ask me, I do not take Christianity seriously either. The point I make however is a human one not a Christian one. If you enter an area where the vast vast majority of the people can fit into one category then some people will assume anyone they meet there fit into that category. They will be right much more often than they are wrong too.
It is just a (poor) human fact that we like to put people into boxes and if the boxes work much more often than not we tend to go with them. I try not to make such assumptions myself having recognized this poor human trait but I am not perfect either and I do find myself assuming things all too often. I have found myself, for example, on forums related to computer games and 1 time out of 1000 I falsely assume the person writing a reply to my post is male. The rest of the time I make that assumption I am correct.
