And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, “The two will become one flesh.” But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. ...

1 Corinthians 6:13-20

"Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. "

1 Corinthians 6:16

The Bible is very strong telling you to flee, run get away from sexual sin (which includes homosexuality). You can find this in Proverbs as well. I don't see the Bible warning me to run run away from overeating.
I didn't say the Bible doesn't condemn sin. I said it instructs me not to judge:

Mt 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.

Ro 14:4 Who are thou that judgeth another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth; yea he shall be holded up: for God is able to make him stand (I believe the gay man or woman is GOD's servant, not mine)

Ro. 14:13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.

I Cor 4:5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness and will make manifest the counsels of heart----

Ja 4:12 There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to detroy: who are thou that judgest another?

Ro 2:1 Therefore, thou art inexcusable, O man, whatsover thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest theyself---

Ja 2:10 /For whosever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

Ja 2:12-13 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. For he shall have judgement without mercy, that hath showed no mercy----

I choose not to judge lest I be judged likewise.
I choose not to judge another child of God, a creation of God, since to me that person is God's servant, not mine.
I choose not to be a stumblingblock to another to lessen their ability to find God.
I choose to judge nothing UNTIL THE LORD COMES, who will judge all things Himself.
I choose not to condemn myself, by condemning another.
I choose not to render evil for evil or railing for railing (I Pe 3:9)
I choose to show and share mercy over condemnation, for that is what I desire from my God, and what He commands me to do toward others.

Further, I choose not to be a spirtitual judge who determines that some sins are greater than others, instead reserving that authority to my God who will judge all in His own good time. The consequences for some sin will be greater than that for others, but that is for God to mete out, not me.

And most of all, I choose not join with those who whisper sweet nothings in God's ear in hopes that God will not see the brutality we practice toward one another.

Don't forget that the passages in The Bible where homosexual acts are condemned are contained in Leviticus. (Some writings attributed to Paul condemn homosexuality as well, but Jesus never speaks on the subject.)

The same part of Leviticus which proclaims against homosexual relations also lists the following things as sins--many of which were punishable by pretty horrible forms of execution:

Gathering sticks on the sabbath

Being a rape victim

Eating shellfish

Wearing robes with more than one type of cloth woven in

Why is it the people who use their religion as a means to preclude same sex consensual adult couples from marrying are fine with completely disregarding these other laws from Leviticus?

It's because they fear and disdain those who are different from themselves. This is because they are bigots.

More scientific evidence that homosexuality is not a choice. The article seems to suggest it's a birth defect, which I disagree with. There is a natural purpose for homosexuality as seen in the animal kingdom and that is population control. There has to be balance in the food chain or there will be mass extinctions. Gay people are actually helping the human race to survive. Bigotry towards homosexuality was interjected into the bible by man. Its why Jesus never mentioned it in the scriptures and its also a reason its not in the ten commandments. Another thing to note, the "Leviticus Laws" were written by man like a list of today's laws Muslims follow.

"Scientists at the Karolinska Institute studied brain scans of 90 gay and straight men and women, and found that the size of the two symmetrical halves of the brains of gay men more closely resembled those of straight women than they did straight men. In heterosexual women, the two halves of the brain are more or less the same size. In heterosexual men, the right hemisphere is slightly larger. Scans of the brains of gay men in the study, however, showed that their hemispheres were relatively symmetrical, like those of straight women, while the brains of homosexual women were asymmetrical like those of straight men. The number of nerves connecting the two sides of the brains of gay men were also more like the number in heterosexual women than in straight men.
This would seem further evidence, as if any were needed, that homosexuality is biological rather than “a lifestyle choice.”

as far as the cause of homosexuality...

"Going deeper into the study, we see that the differences in brain symmetry is an effect, not a cause. The most likely cause is “hormonal influences.” It turns out, “homosexuality may be caused by ‘under-exposure to prenatal androgens’ in males and ‘over-exposure’ in females.”

Of course no matter how much conclusive scientific data you throw in the face of religious fanatics, they will still cling on to what they have always believed (been told). If they allow themselves to have an open mind, they begin to question everything else they believe and that is what they fear. It's about holding on to tradition because thats what binds their faith. We still celebrate the birth of Christ on December 25th even though we later found out that Jesus was actually born in the fall and Dec 25 actually has more of a pagan importance. The Pagan sun god was born on December 25th long before the birth of Christ. The Egyptian god Osiris was born on December 25th before the birth of Christ. Christians reserve Sunday as the day of the sabbath when the real sabbath is Saturday. "On the seventh day God rested". Saturday is the seventh day of the week. Sunday was actually reserved for pagan sun worship hence the name Sunday. Actually the Catholic church went against one of God's ten commandments and changed the sabbath to Sunday to get pagans to come to church. When you begin to peel away the untruths it can be scary for Christians. But the truth shall set you free! There is a difference between being religious and be spiritual. Being religious is dangerous. God intended us to be spiritual. Religion was created by man.

I met one guy who said there were gay demon spider that would bite me hence making them gay. No really..
So, God created murderers, child molesters, prostitutes, abortionists, thieves, etc. so none of these people would be condemned according to your "idea". God gave people free will to make a choice as to whether to sin or not. While you may not be choosing your inclination toward doing something, although the company you keep and the porn you get involved with can help, you make the choice of whether or not to engage in the behavior. Also, most people believe that being gay is a choice and you can just look at those who were not "aware" they were a homosexual and others who "changed" either which way. Yeah, it would be nice if we could all not take personal responsibility for our behaviors and still reap positive rewards but I have yet to see this happen in any situation. God gave you free will and rules and mankind makes the choices.

False equivalency. One's sexual conduct is a private matter. It is rightly not criminalized by society in most enlightened corners of the world unless it involves violation of the rights of others (e.g., rape or indecent exposure).

Society holds people responsible for conduct that actually harms society, but in addition, natural consequences holds people responsible for conduct that is personally unwise. Hence, for instance, unprotected sex of any kind is apt to result in VD, unplanned pregnancy, and various forms of drama.

This is the way the real world works, and it self regulates without superimposing god concepts atop it. In fact I don't see where injecting dogma even helps, on balance. Christians like to flatter themselves that without the restraining influence of their moral codes, the world would descend into chaos ...

I am surprised that throughout this whole thread that no one has realized this, even though some of you seem to be huge studiers of religion.

the reason that marriage is said to be between a man and a woman is because marriage is said to be for procreation.

So what? No matter what our sin is, we are accountable for it.

Well apparently you Fundies are sinless, seeing as you spend an obscene amount of time condemning this one sin above all others.
