The genetic make-up, no matter how close to perfection, is irrelevant without reproduction.

And the birthrate in Europe is declining.

Success in evolution isn't measured by current populations, but by future populations.

You're missing the (very simple) point.

If a brown-eye dominant male mates with a brown-eye dominant female, their offspring will have brown eyes. It doesn't matter whether they chose each other for eye color, looks, money, personality or religious belief. It's really that simple. I don't know how to make it any simpler.

Agreed.

(Weird, it's like my last post went unnoticed)

Irrelevant. The subject (you raised) was atheist vs. believer, not Europe vs. the world. I showed your argument to be false. Changing the subject won't help you here.

Huh? How, exactly, do you see into the future to assess future populations?

Sean is saying that belief affects evolution. You're saying evolution doesn't affect belief.

So in other words, you guys are arguing about two different things, and probably in agreement!

No. Belief and evolution are completely unrelated.

If the entire ethnic group died in a wave of suicide bombings, that ethnic group would have been removed from the gene pool.

I'm not missing that point at all.

The point that we're making is that belief does affect evolution because it affects who gets to pass on their genes and who is nothing more than a biological, evolutionary dead end.

Whatever genetic traits that are found desirable within a large religious group are much more likely to be passed on than those that are found to be desirable by fringe groups.
