ROSSVILLE, Ill. — When Witch School came to town, Mayor Terry Prillaman stopped in to welcome the owners, as he does whenever a new business opens. "If you don't like them, don't patronize them," he says. "It's like a tattoo parlor: You don't have to go in."

Youth pastor Andy Thomas, though, believes the arrival of witches in this town of 1,200 created a "spiritual battle" pitting "the forces of darkness against the forces of light."

I think the story is more amusing than serious. It sounds like somebody has a little business going on the internet and is hoping to make a few bucks by attracting people who would like to fancy themselves as a witch or someone who can cast spells and do something magical. Of course it's all nonsense because no matter how long someone attends witch school they're never going to have any magic powers. It's as foolish as some of the New Age stuff you read about except these people are supposedly attracted to the dark side.

I don't know. I have a hard enough time feeling comfortable on a bicycle seat so the idea of riding a broomstick doesn't really appeal to me.

Ah, beware of those who cast their spells and do things magical!

Hmm, maybe I shouldn't be so hasty. Don't they have some kind of love potion?

Gotta give credit where credit is due, MontanaGuy said that, not me. I think you made a mistake using the quoting thing. I do it all the time.

The broom is used for ritual cleansings as it says in the article. It all has to do with symbolisms.
I know of some that are witches and it's not like the Halloween thing. They practice Wicca and it's a do good and harm no one religion. They pray but it's done in more of a ritualistic type way using candles, incense or whatever. No animal sacrifices or bad things.
It's not a joke or to be made fun of. It's not like a Harry Potter book where people go to school to learn about magic but more of working to the advantage of the universe to get what you want out of life without doing harm to others.
