I think a lot of highly addictive people become "addicted" to it. So long as they don't seek to impose their beliefs on others, it is usually a far less harmful form of addiction than other addictions.
anything can turn into an addiction, religion isnt left out either
I personally hate religion and the long looks down the noses of religious people that think they are right, Jesus didnt care for religious people either, matter of fact, those are the ones that yelled the loudest " crucify him, crucify him".

Religion can be addictive. It is sad to see the people who are addicted to the rituals, the nice clothes, the music, etc. These are the people who may be faithful to show up, but their Monday through Saturday lives don't necessarily reflect their beliefs.
If you have a true relationship with Christ, then you won't want to give that up for anything. It will completely change your life. If you have a spouse, do you want to spend time with them daily, or do you prefer to see them once a week and completely ignore them in-between times? Of course that is not a good way to maintain a healthy relationship with your spouse, nor is it a good way to approach your relationship with the Lord. If people want to classify that as addiction, then so be it.
No. An addiction is a physical craving. I think it is disingenuous for so many people to refer to effects or behaviors that are not physical craving and call them addictions. There are habits, preferences, and decision-patterns (based on one's cognitive framework); these are not addictions.
Religion basically comes down to positive thinking. It teaches you ideas that make you feel good about the universe.
Practically speaking, for many people being religious is basically a hobby, or maybe avocation. That's because they are acting out a set of teachings and practices that they really don't understand and have accepted without much if any critical thinking. For a lot of those people, being religious is in effect sleep-walking.

You can for sure, but religion or more properly a deep and loving personal relationship with God or Spirit can give you something extra, it's hard to describe it if you haven't developed it, but once you do, you can't picture your life in any other way, because this relationship makes you irradiate joy, peace, hapiness among many other things.
You become like a small children who holds the hand of his loving father or mother (depending on your view of spirit) you don't want to loose his protecting and loving mantle for a second, it becomes your armor in life, your shield and your sword as well, you feel much more and better equipped and then you start to fear nothing because you are holding God's hand and he is holding yours.

Of course there are good people that aren't religous.
