As I sat outside tonight waiting for the moon to make her appearance, wrapped outwardly in my warmest sweater against the 2C temperature (35F or so) and inwardly with a chai tea and a couple of shots of tequila, a thought occurred:
If the universe came into being as a result of a being's efforts, I would have no problem referring to that being as God/Creator.
If the universe came into being as a result of some sort of cosmic accident/Big Bang, I would suggest the universe itself has become God - in effect, has created him/it/herself.
Either way, I feel in my bones there's a Creator. And we're connected.

No argument. Now, we need to discuss the idea of necessary and sufficient cause. But that's probably for another thread.
BTW...I love chai tea. That stuff from Starbucks is good stuff. The closest one to me is about an hour, though.
I've heard an agnostic tell me before that the difference between her and the theistic world is that she believed everything that exists is divine and should be adored.
sounds like Ancestor worship, of the ultimate kind. And also like pantheism.
The universe can't be a God unless it has a mind and is not subject to entropy. It would be as divine as Heaven though, but it often falls short of most people's high standards.
The universe could have been made by a group of beings working in unison or by parts. Ultimately, that "creator group/person" would have to be a nihilist who found its own meaning to its uncreated and therefore meaningless (by most Creationists standards) existence.
I feel connected to Real Truth through Agnosticism and in my bones I feel this divinely inspired need to purify the world and help my misguided fellow human-beings by educating them with love. It's probably just a human thing though.
We as people usually attach agency to a lot of things, its probably an evolutionary thing.
Nature is marvelous though, except for all the spiders and volcanoes and things.

Which universe TroutDude? The first 'hard evidence' that other universes exist has been found by scientists.
Cosmologists studying a map of the universe from data gathered by the Planck spacecraft have concluded that it shows anomalies that can only have been caused by the gravitational pull of other universes.

There's little doubt that there was a creation, what is confusing to me, is that many human beings require that to be caused by in an intelligent entity.
What is even more astounding to me, is that this is made in a human form. In words there's little doubt in my mind that any gods humans have created are as a result of the human imagination.
I certainly wish that more human would respect and worship the creation that does exist. We are destroying our own reality through overuse of resources, over populating this blue marble, and by concentrating solely on the anthropomorphic desires, we neglect the health and well being of the whole.
It is time for us understand what becoming one with nature really means. It's time for us to look at why civilizations in the past were much closer to that nature even know they didn't understand it. Everything interacts with that nature and that starts from the plants, to the animals, to the food that is provided through both of those to us, to the atmosphere we breathe, and to the solar system and universe beyond.
We are part of this universe and it is incumbent upon us to respect that and by our actions worship that. The worst thing that has happened in the last 3500 years is that human beings have listened to old fables and old stories and believed in imaginary entities and have lived their lives based on those old fables and stories.
