I'd like to read those verses. I'm not familiar with them. Do you know where they are?

Genesis refers to God "breathing the breath of life" into Adam. In a couple of other references, it speaks of animals having the "breath of life" in them. (also in Genesis) But if this is what MorningGlory is referring to, I think that's very different than saying that "life begins with the first breath."

Actually the fetus receives it's oxygen from the umbilical cord and placenta. In the third trimester it may begin the stages of "breathing" where the fetus imitates breathing by taking in amniotic fluid, but the fetus takes it's first true breath upon birth.

thank you! I am a mom of four kids and was always scared of a miscarriage in the beginning stages of every pregnancy. I would anxiously consult my OBGYN ( I had a different one for each pregnancy as we were a military family and moved a lot) and they all gave me the same scenario....so I think it is safe to assume that miscarriages are not preventable, by any means.

So if abortion is completely outlawed, that would mean that if your 90 lb 13 year old daughter got raped and pregnant she would have to completely risk her life to have a baby?

I honestly want to know.

i wouldnt call carrying a baby to term (even if you are a 90lb 13 year old) RISKING YOUR LIFE!!!! arent you exaggerating a bit?
i think that having an abortion can also be considered risking your life. women and girls die from those also (im not speaking of the illegal ones but the so called safe ones done in clinics and hospitals)

A child's body is not yet fully grown.
I believe that young children are more at risk for giving birth than adults.
