A few years back an entire group of people thought god communicated to them that they should commit suicide so they could join the mother ship on the other side of the Hale Bop comet.
Just an fyi Lindsey, anytime someone thinks God is telling them to either kill themselves or anyone else, the message isn't coming from God.
I think some people have a hard time accepting boring reality, so they make up these so called signs.
AND Deb, I don't believe god, someone in the mother ship on the other side of the Hale Bop comet or anyone else is sending anyone signs.
Rely on logic and common sense and there is an explanation for everything, even those mystical signs people are having.
I think the real explanation here is that some people are easily led and some are not. Those that would buy something like the nail polish thing is a sign, are easily led, ripe for the picking and in danger of being conned. Just like the group that went to meet the mother ship on the other side of the Hale Bop comet.
If those people hadn't taken their own lives, they would have done something else incredibly stupid because they had no common sense.
That group suicide was natures way of thinning the herd.
im sorry but i dont understand what you are saying. fruit?
Let's say I saw something unusual. Some may say it's a "sign", others not.
But more importantly, what did the "occurence" produce? What was the fruit, so to speak.
Has this occurence produced only anxiety and confusion? Or has it produced peace and joy?
Perhaps it has produced just a simple question; was it a "sign"?
For some of us "religious", the "fruit" is what's important.
Not if it's a sign or not.
i am not easily led but i am easily bored so maybe that explains it. i have heard alot of people in my lifetime say things like "oh! maybe it's a sign!" so that is why im open to just about anything being possible.

thanks i get it now. thanks for the example.
p.s. my fruit is anxious, confused, curious and a bit of "o.k. that's cool"
Honestly, Nicolepsy, if you're thinking this much about God...I think it's obvious that YES, God IS trying to speak to you. The non-believers will think I am crazy for saying this, but God has His ways of speaking to us. He may speak to us very harshly in order to gain our attention. He may speak subtly to those seeking Him or are open to listening to Him. If you think He may be speaking to you, then He probably is. The fact that you're not ignoring these things, tell me that you are indeed open to finding Him.
FOLLOW YOUR HEART! If you follow your heart, you can't go wrong where God is concerned!
you must first decipher what the sign would tell you if it were a sign..its just the word faith..this doesn't mean you should become a christian..it means you shouldn't worry..i think its telling you to have faith in yourself and your own beliefs and to stop worrying about what others believe in...well that may just come from what i believe you should do
There is a scent on the market called "Suicide"...I hope you don't ever come across it Nicolepsy!!
You really do need to put these daft ideas out of your head otherwise the next thing you'll be seeing is visions of Jesus on pieces of toast. It's nothing more than coincidence. Think logically about it...if such an all powerful deity existed, do you really think it would be bothered sending people "signs" on nail varnish bottles. If such a deity wanted you to believe in it's existence, it would just wave it's hand and it would be so.
Theists will respond to this post with something like ".... but god wants you to believe in him through 'faith'....", which is just another way of saying, "you just need to convince yourself that invisible, unprovable, supernatural entities like hobgoblins, pixies and Flying Spaghetti Monsters exist." Once you've done that Nico, all things are possible. Everything you see becomes a 'sign' or a 'miracle'.
