OP, there are several reasons, all to be refused by those of faith.
1. human being can not imagine anything, it has not experienced in his life. Period. this is known fact, ask psychologists. This is why all gods and aliens are always anthropomorphic. Even the wildest "non human looking" ones will cross reference to what is already existing on earth. tentacles. Amorphous blobs. Whatever. It is just variations of what we already know
2. who will believe into something unimaginably alien? To believe, people need to bond with it mentally and emotionally. What suits better, than a fatherly portly looking elderly man (btw, completely disregarding women, aye?) that anyone may relate to as "spiritual father"? I am very suspicious, many of those believers had childhood father trauma of some sort or lack of one altogether, resulting in finding heavenly one. What bothers me is how same believers clearly forget that that "heavenly father" of the story, called Old Testament, is a mass murderer and pretty crappy designer of living beings.
This is one aspect where I have to bow to Islam - because it does not permit images of god, as He can't be depicted. Understood and depicted. That I dig.

I wonder when we ever meet aliens from outer space how they picture their god(s) (that is, if they believe in God).

By the way I'm not trying to prove or disprove the existence of God.
My God=Love and love exist, but Christians probably would not call my God as God.
That is a point that doesn't often come up - God Needs us. But then, that doesn't get us much further as kings need people to tax.
Other it ism't a thread for me..I mean posting faith in Christian Dogma gets us nowhere, including the topic of what God thinks.

Dirt is the worst refuse possible? Dirt gives life and nutrients to all our food.
We build our homes on it and it grows our sweet smelling grass and flowers...Huh?
Oh, how my mind goes to
what really would be the worst refuse possible.

I don't know what God thinks, but He has let me know what He feels...that's why I describe Him
as a Sacred Heart...and a genius Being beyond imagination
that has placed Himself into every particle in existence;
each carrying the whole within it, like each cut up piece of a holographic bookmark has the entire
"Elephant image" in it.

On topic, I don't think of God with human traits. Only feelings...like boundless love, unquenchable compassion,
burning pain and wrenching sadness....need I go on?
I didn't make that up ...He poured these feelings in me and through me.
They sure were not mine!
Go figure, I am as amazed as anyone.

No one need believe me, of course...why would you...it sounds nuts, I know.
