I always thought it was Quanza, but I see it can be spelled both ways.
No, I am white. I also thought it was for African Americans...if there
was a festival announced I would go for the food and crafts, for SURE!

I honestly thought that was no longer something people recognized.

Are you that removed, in your small town, from what happens in the rest of America? Of course people are celebrating Kwanzaa. There is, once again, a Kwanzaa stamp this year. So many good things to experience when one has the opportunity to enjoy multiculturalism. Good and yummy things, like...... Christmas tamales!!

I'm sorry--it's never been a big thing where I live. But I used to see a lot more references to it in the media. I seriously have not seen anything mentioned about it on tv, the news, ore even the internet. It just hasn't been a big thing.

I'm all for multi-culturism. There are some fantastic Mexican restaurants in my area. I personally don't really get into tamales but I do love a good enchilada.

Having said that...I will lament the fact that since we have moved to a small town we just don't have a lot of black people in our area. It's just a fact--the demographics in our area is just mostly white, and some hispanic and asian. I want my kids growing up recognizing that skin color is not really relevant--but to understand that people are people.

Explanations of Kwanzaa and how it is observed are available on the internet. Living in a small town no longer has to limit anyone.

Kwanzaa is not a religious holiday, so I'm not sure why it's in this section.
