Geeze, mordant, I wish you knew me in my real life...I believe your cynicism would change...it is possible to truly be renewed and live in a magical world of "Everything is great". And my friends are positively amazed and inspired by my change.
A cynic is one who thinks poorly of the motivations of people. I do not. I shake my head at life itself, not at people. My fellow travelers are doing their best to get along, just like I am. Some are, of course, black stains on the soul of humanity, but in the main, they mean well and try their best to do well.
Your ability to declare everything "great" by fiat often comes in quite handy, I'm sure. I don't begrudge you your talents. I wouldn't even try my hand at it, my own super-powers being what they are (the ability to see all leaks in any given abstraction).
..or not..if they are forgiven as repentant sinners...until the next time they do it..and the next...
This is a good point. That brings to the question of someone sinning who has repented before but not yet for the latest sin, would they go to heaven? I've never understood this either.
As we find in John 8 1-12 (unless it pops up in Luke 21.) Jesus got the sinning woman let off but 'do not sin again'. Under the 'flowers do not spin' clause, she wouldn't need to, being nourished by the ground or at least national assistance, but of course it doesn't work in real life and so she'd be back at her gainful employment as soon as baby needs a pair of new shoes.
So, next time around, does Jesus pull the same cheap trick? 'If you can't find a Judge and lawyers and a jury that have never done anything wrong, you cannot send anyone to jail.' Or does he say 'well, the law says stone..'
Of course, under a humanistic relative moral code such as thankfully we have everywhere outside (possibly) certain muslim countries, we neither let offenders get away with it indefinitely, nor do we apply the crude and barbaric punishments of the Bible - including eternal torment in hell for persistently 'Sinning'.
To answer your question then, this is yet another bit of the Bible that doesn't work or make sense, and I suggest you might better use it as a door - stop and employ rationality, instead.
