Jesus was a teacher...an example of what Man would become...a Super Being...
..an example of the highest mind Man could achieve...'Mind', as in, an expansive consciousness...
an awareness that encompassed past and future, that was in the beginning ... I'm sure he was Presbetarian.
Was Jesus a Christian? If yes, what denomination does he come closest to being like?
No. Christianity didn't even exist until after his death. Though, since it was based on his teachings, you could argue that he was Christian in a way, but he would not have identified as such.
Theology aside, he was just a Jew. A poor, homeless, Middle Eastern Jew who sought to teach the world (which in his time meant teaching locals because how could he get to most parts of the world?) about his idea of God, which was far more peaceful than the rather unstable God of the Old Testament that the Jew saw.
But no, he wasn't really Christian. I think he would be the 'ideal' Christian, the model citizen, but he was never considered Christian. And really, how arrogant would that be? Create a religion, become that religion, and name it after yourself?

Jesus was a New Birth Christian.
He was the first person on earth to receive God's Divine Love...the Christ principle. His soul became transformed - Born Again into a Divine being and at-one with and the closest to God. Jesus wasn't God born on earth. He followed God's Will and his mission was to teach people that God's Divine Love was available, so they could... and still can... receive it as well.
He was looked upon by his religious peers as someone in rebellion of his own Jewish upbringing and scriptural teachings.... like an outsider of the faith.... doing his own thing.
And really, how arrogant would that be? Create a religion, become that religion, and name it after yourself?
The religion is not named after Jesus...
"Christ" was not his last name...it is a title. Just like Buddah, that is a title not a name. Today when people say Buddah, they are speaking of Siddhartha Guatama.
I can see that there are so many the listen to their preacher, and don't read the bible for them selves, nor are taught of the Spirit.
But for those whom need scriptures John 1;
In the beginning was the word ,and the word was with God, and the word was God, and the same was in the beginning with God, and all things were made by Him, and with out Him was not any thing made.
This is who Jesus is.
His action was to breach the gap mere religion was incapable of.
What Jesus provided is not a religion , though men have preferred to make it one.
Jesus provided the Holy Spirit, so that men that Love God had His Spirit access in them, to guide them in God's will day by day.
Though men confuse the issue with academic trivia , that is not God's design.
Obedience is God's design .
Jesus said ,"take My yoke upon you and learn of Me. "
It is a bond with the Father, and finding out life is far more than this human existence, into an eternal one .
One that requires discipline ,not merely a self discipline, but of behavior to God's instruction even though one does not comprehend all that is involved.=trust.
God protects me and guides me through things I am to do, in and around and through danger ,or simply meet the need of some one else that has potential .
The knowledge for these actions do not come from pages , nor other men, but from the Spirit of God Him self.
This is God's design.
The fact that God is capable of getting some job done in spite of the fact there is not a man that will be obedient to the task, was demonstrated, when a way ward prophet Balam was on a path of disobedience, and God spoke to him through a donkey .
This did not make the donkey holy , just a functional tool for the event.
A lot of false teaching exists and will always exist..
Men have been reached in spite of this.
The difference is, God's Holy spirit does not deviate from His message ,all that are taught of God, understand the same things . And we are not connected in a particular group nor do any of us happen to know one another in the flesh necessarily .
Jesus said, as the wind blows where it want's to , so are they that are born of the Spirit. John 3;
Jesus said God looks for those that Love Him, and will reveal Jesus to them.
There are a lot of people that love religion, and the academics and accolade that comes with leading others .
Jesus warned His disciples NOT to be called teachers or master or father .
These titles belong to God ,in the life of a believer. Matthew 23;7,
God has used faulty men to work in spite of their disobedience to provide pieces of the message in the event an honest seeking man should choose to Love God .
His own devotion toward God is the fuel that develops the relationship, IF he is actually hungering and thirsting after righteousness (obedience to God) then he will be filled.
But a man simply choosing to use God toward his own devices ,he has neither repented of self govern, to seek God's govern, nor has any intention of being obedient.
God will judge having known all things, even our intentions. Matthew 7;21,22,23,
Calling Jesus "Lord" falsely, constitutes a lie, God is forced to judge .
And all men will call Jesus Lord on that day ,in an attempt to escape judgment, but it will not prove their relation to Him, if they have not actually been obeying HIM here and now.
Acts 2;39, The promise of God, the Holy Spirit, is to All that will believe, even as many as the Lord will call.
