Why is it always Christians who overreact on school issues like this? What is the problem, do they feel threatened? It certainly isn't evidence of an open mind nor evidence of wanting to learn about the wider world.

Not all Christians are like that. Sadly a lot of Christians are very closed minded & tend to live life with blinders on. They are just doing what they are told too & that's reject anything that they don't believe is of their God. I don't understand how they can go though life living with closed minds.

It isn't always Christians who react to this stuff, you got that wrong.
As I posted, that class lasted until the 3rd day.
This is a PUBLIC school located in California.
Our area is NOT full of Christians. This is not the Bible belt
What puzzles me, theists seem to know more of the wiles of satan (who isn't real btw) than their supposed god. What happened to pleading teh blud of jesus to protekt your (or is that you're, Yanks always get the two confused) child?
As if spells really work, hurrumph!
This is just more proof that folk's god is as real as they imagine him/it to be, Oh look, I found mhai car keys Praise The Lord...

Heh. The car-keys found thanks to God is almost as notorious as the freeze -dried eucalyptus leaves and the designed banana.
there is no right way to teach any kind of religion in public schools. Religion should be taught in places that are designated for it, public schools are not designated for religion.

I think that we should teach about religion. School is a fine place to learn that there are as many different takes on religion as there are cultures and people groups. It is a fine place to understand the broad stokes of how a religion views the world, how it has changed over time, and how it has affected history.
Trying to teach the practice of a particular religion is not appropriate for public education.
