The wishes of which people? Fundies like yourself? The majority in the US were and are in favor of same sex marriage.

So those of us who are opposed to the death penalty should be forming into civil protest groups? We should lie if called to be a potential juror in a murder case by saying we are NOT opposed when we are?

Here is a quote from a famous politician regarding Kim Davis' idiocy:

Quote:
"The decision has been made, and that is the law of the land."

"She can take a pass and let somebody else in the office do it in terms of religious," he added. "So you know, it's a very tough situation. But ... we're a nation of laws."
Donald Trump Trump on Kentucky clerk: Gay marriage is 'law of the land' | NJ.com

Seems like frump hair, uh Trump hair, has a far better understanding than you do of "the law of the land." And I count Trump as one of the most famous idiots in the nation.

Davis is still another hypocritical fundamentalist. In her brief toward the Supreme Court she claimed to not need to follow the law because her oath of office concluded with "So help me God."
Quote:
Davis in her legal brief argued that she understood her oath of office “to mean that, in upholding the federal and state constitutions and laws, she would not act in contradiction to the moral law of God.” Why? Because her oath included the words, “So help me God.”
What the Oath of Office Means to a Kentucky Clerk - Bloomberg View

So she SWORE using God's name to uphold the laws of the state. By now failing to do so she has countermanded God's commandment to HER:

Ecclesiastes 5:6--It is better not to vow than to make a vow and not fulfill it. Do not let your mouth lead you into sin. And do not protest to the temple messenger, "My vow was a mistake."

Deuteronomy 30:2-4
"If a man makes a vow to the LORD, or takes an oath to bind himself with a binding obligation, he shall not violate his word; he shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth. "Also if a woman makes a vow to the LORD, and binds herself by an obligation in her father's house in her youth, and her father hears her vow and her obligation by which she has bound herself, and her father says nothing to her, then all her vows shall stand and every obligation by which she has bound herself shall stand.…"

But by saying she won't issue the marriage licenses while serving in office, Davis is also committing a sin: violating an oath she made before God to uphold the Constitution and laws of the U.S. The Constitution requires her to issue licenses for gay couples. Every moment she disobeys the Constitution, she is violating her oath. The Bible doesn’t look kindly on oath-breaking. The only way for her to emerge from the state of sin is to resign.

Under the Constitution, the government can’t force you to engage in a religious action or stop you from exercising your freedom of religion. Normally, it shouldn’t coerce you to act against your faith. But no one was or is coercing Kim Davis. She’s free to serve the public and obey her oath to God to follow the law. And she’s free to quit and absolve herself of that oath. The choice is hers.

Amen!

And my personal favorite:

Mark 12:17
And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him.

So you represent "the people" now?

No. No you don't. As you well know.

As far as Ms Davis goes, she is getting what she wanted - the chance to be a martyr. Or as close as it's possible to be a martyr in our secular society. Most Americans support gay marriage, and even more Americans support the idea of people doing the jobs for which they get paychecks.

She cares more about standing before the Supreme Judge, (which you claim to believe in) the Lord of the universe than man's laws which constantly change and are hardly consistent.

Quote:

Jefferson didn’t want the state to establish religion that would lead to state persecution of religious freedom — the reason why the Pilgrims came to America. That’s why the First Amendment to our US Constitution states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” In America, the citizen has the freedom of religion; the state can’t institute an atmosphere of freedom from religion.

And so I find it rather interesting that in Kentucky, Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis found herself spending last night in jail for her religious belief. And spare me comparisons to segregation. Blacks were granted rights by way of the 13th-15th Amendments, and it was the Democrat party who sought to deny them.

Folks, you're missing the point about the Kentucky clerk's jail sentence - Allen B. West - AllenBWest.com

A Christian was jailed for her faith, yes faith and you apparently fully support that.

She can stand before her judge with a clean conscious if she resigns. She wan't jailed for her faith, she was jailed for refusal to follow courts orders to do her job.

It's simple: The woman is an idiot and a bigot. The people who support her are equally idiotic and bigoted.

That judge will doubtless want to know why she did not keep her oath of office, and whys he accepts her full salary for doing, at best, part of her job -- thus defrauding the voters who elected her.

If that link represents your news source, that sure explains a lot.
