It seems that more and more people are embracing creationism and / or pseudo science (vortex solar systems, spirit science). Why are people turning away from science to embrace these ideologies and conspiracy theories? The number of people believing in this is rising. Isn't this problematic for our future going forward?

Overall, the 40 most science-educated countries in the world saw a drop from 23% STEM degrees in 2002 to 22% a decade later. The United States rounded out the bottom of the list in 39th place, with 16% STEM degrees in both 2002 and 2012.
Science has never been more grossly dominant,if I wiki anything any damn animal e,g a cockatoo l I will get nothing but a scientific explanation of it,no mention of its ancient symbolism,no mention of it in mythology/folklore,nothing,only as it exists in scientific terms.
I am met with nothing but hostility all day long, everyday, for having spiritual beliefs.

People are not turning away from science. In this day and age, people are now thinking for themselves rather than swallowing whatever agenda is being fed to them. And that goes both ways from people in the church to universities to anywhere. People are questioning things that no longer make sense and that have no basis. Evolution is not science. It's a theory and one that is continually overtime proving to have multiple holes that some people want others to excuse away. Well just like religious arguments of "God did it" isn't enough for some, the excuse for evolution that "It's the best we got" isn't enough either.

this makes a good point. i work in healthcare, and more and more people are using alternative medicine healing modalities, because they see the limitations of Western medicine. Alternative healing such as acupuncture and Oriental medicine are gaining more widespread use and acceptance. It is not an "instead of" Western medicine, it is more an "in addition to." It is a routine part of care now even in the most traditional settings, for instance military medical centers. In parts of the country with large Native American population, there are even medical centers that have sweat lodge and Native healing ceremonies. I think it's great.

See OP this is why. The US is full of scientifically illiterate people.
How difficult is it to look up Scientific Theory?
While you are at it google all the science disciplines involved in Evolution.
Now let's see you list those multiple holes that blow the roof off of Evolution.
I'm watching Physics classes at MIT on YouTube dealing with electricity, magnetic Fields and Electric Fields.
