I believe Jesus--the bible is simply a tool that witnesses to Him. When it is considered superior to Him, His words and actions, then it is like any other Baal which men bow down to.

All scripture understood by the life and teaching of Jesus becomes a completely different message from the "literal" bible which has been the foundation of so much evil for men over the centuries.

That sounds so spiritual. It really does.

What does that look like?

I'm not Warden but I have a hunch at least part of the answer is to open your heart. Which, of course, is a metaphor - like much of what is found in the bible - for learning to feel another's pain.

I'd be curious as to when the Jews no longer allowed multiple wives and concubines because obviously it was permitted during Solomon's day and much like slavery, there wasn't much protestation regarding this practice. Several hundred years pass (up to 1100 years) until the New Testament and it apparently fell out of favor. I'm curious when and what happened to make this occur.

By cherry-picking the teachings of Jesus in order to support a pre-existing theological agenda.

By testing the Spirit of everything in it against the Spirit of agape love (Who IS God) . . . God's standard of truth.

Hubris is hardly limited to the religious. As an example: atheists who were raised in fundamentalist churches can be filled with it as well.
