I guess if you can't come up with an actual response this kind of flailing about might quiet the cognitive dissonance for a little while.

it is hard for any person to change careers.
I don't see clergy being as any different from any other person having to make the difficult adjustment of re-training or learning new job skills

and yes it is common to lose our entire support system when we change jobs, or when we get divorced, or when we relocate. those are not specific to clergy so I'm not sure why they would get any special or different treatment

they only poignancy I can see is that often times in a life changing crisis, it draws a person close to God. whereas if someone is leaving the clergy they may feel that is not an option, so they are without even that support

Of course it doesn't warrant special treatment; that's not what the purpose of The Clergy Project is. It's certainly not the worst thing that can happen to a person, but it takes being ex-clergy to fully understand the impact of losing one's job, home, surrogate family, spouse, and their belief system in one fell swoop. The organization exists as a support network for people who are coming from a rather unusual circumstance; same as any one of thousands of support groups that are geared toward a specific event or life obstacle.
