The article suggests that I may be able to benefit from a placebo, even if I know it's a placebo. In other words, I might be able to benefit from the placebo effect without being deceived.

Yeah, I read it. The benefit they were looking for in the study was better health.
What good were you thinking a religion placebo would provide you?
So under the assumption that religion is a placebo, maybe an atheist like myself could still benefit from religion, even though I know it's fake.

So if we did a basic psychological analysis of what you stated above, it seems like you already believe that you need some sort of healing from a faith related need (be it from a placebo effect), which in turn makes me think that unconsciously your believe in Atheism leaves a void in your subconscious
