Sorry but that is a fallacy. One bad egg does not make an entire congregation bad.
Nor does one bad church make all churches world-wide bad.

Just as I would not conclude that, due to your irrational posts, all people who believe like you are irrational as well.

Stunning, if you ask me.

So under the assumption that religion is a placebo, maybe an atheist like myself could still benefit from religion, even though I know it's fake.

Thoughts?

What benefits are you seeking?

The placebo effect. It's real.

The problem is, I don't want to be deceived for my own good.

The article suggests that I may be able to benefit from a placebo, even if I know it's a placebo. In other words, I might be able to benefit from the placebo effect without being deceived.

If I were a better computer programmer and if I had a lot more free time on my hands, I would attempt to create an automatic Eusebius Argument Generator.

Maybe mordant can write one up, since he's a computer pro.

Yeah, I read it. The benefit they were looking for in the study was better health.

What good were you thinking a religion placebo would provide you?

So if we did a basic psychological analysis of what you stated above, it seems like you already believe that you need some sort of healing from a faith related need (be it from a placebo effect), which in turn makes me think that unconsciously your believe in Atheism leaves a void in your subconscious

Something is missing in being an Atheist, isn't it?
