Here is my one and only honest to goodness experience dating a "christrian" believe in god date--

I was 26, she 25. Way back in prehistoric times (pre-messenger / forums) there existed BBS / VAX systems. My brother had set up a BBS that operated 24 / 7 and I filled in as operator (today we call them moderators) from midnight to 7:00 A.M.
I do not even remember how people knew about the BBS, but they would log in and leave messages others could respond to or just rant, like forums are used today.
One early morning, this person logs in to the BBS and asks there is an operator. 20% of the users wanted to chat with someone, and tonight this user was looking for conversation.

I responded, and she started the conversation. We chatted for several nights and found out we both worked afternoons, which left our time free from midnight--8:00 A.M

We met once for coffee at 3:00 A.M. and eventually met at various 24 hour restaurants for dinner.

It wan't long before she suggested we go on a "date." Some place like real couples go. We decided that we could do a movie and a real dinner on the day we both had off from work.

I drove to pick her up that night and she insisted on driving. We had a light dinner and headed to the movies.

We no sooner went into the movies and she was all over me...needless to say pornography in real life is not like the movies.

I ought to back up and mention that the car she drove was a 1977 Cutlass Delta Cruiser station wagon and it was a drive-in movie (we had quite a few back in 1986).

She literally bush-whacked me! The ONLY regret I have is that I talked my way out of the grand-slam by uttering some foolishness about marriage first and other non-sensible ramblings.

Simply having belief or lacking belief doesn't make someone a "zealot."

Using words carelessly is precisely how words begin to lose their meaning -- resulting in making it harder and harder to effectively communicate with our fellow human beings.

I'm sure that, somewhere along the line, I dated a Christian. However, his belief never played a part in our relationship. I didn't have to listen to anyone proselytize or use the name of Jesus or God every 20 seconds. There was never any praying, thanking God for trivial successes or lucky breaks, and I was never forced to attend church. I was asked to go once and I hated it since it was a Pentacostal church. There was way too much hand waving, moaning, writhing, public repenting, the preacher smoked a cigar during the service, and felt as if I had to plan a sudden exit well beforehand ... just in case.

I could never date a science-denier or a young-earth creationist. I could never date a fundamentalist or an evangelical. I could never date someone that votes based on the religiosity of the president or someone who wants the government to legislate morality based on Biblical principles.

Nor could I date someone who makes our dates and private times feel as though he dragged God along with us as a third wheel.

The zealous concept of "putting God first" can be a huge buzzkill when it comes to dating.

Otherwise, if they don't try to convert me, if they don't hold opinions that I find too frustrating to be around on a consistent basis, and if they aren't constantly thanking, praying to, or talking about God, I can live with dating a Christian.

Do please learn a little bit about evolution, if only to prevent yourself from being a Moderator cut: bleep .

We are not bound to limit sex only to procreation attempts. If this were so, female humans would experience cyclical sexual receptiveness like cats. They would go into heat periodically, and only then would they be interested in sex. Yet women are interested in sex despite without regard to their fertile periods.

Similarly, people are interested in sex after menopause, again showing that the link between sex and procreation is not exclusive. There are other reasons for sex.

Regardless of what anybody on this forum may advocate or how they may conduct themselves sexually, it is pretty clear that sex is not exclusively for procreation.

And Bonobo's would agree with that. They mate for recreation. Go Bonobos!

Are you kidding? I believe in God.

I'm mostly okay with people who don't as dating partners (not a disqualifier).

What is a disqualifier is extremism. As in, if I tell people I believe in God, and I tell them why, they don't feel the need to see it as a personal challenge to them.

Don't go to church, no problem. Don't try to deconvert me.

I'm more upset with fundies, and their incessant dictation of what I need to be "saved". If I goto church, same as you, leave me alone. You do not know my church.

First of all, why?

You must not have had many dates, if you have you must be failing miserably since none of those people wanted to marry you.

Take it from someone who just had something prospective end because of this issue. This is a dumb thing to judge someone based on unless you are super conservative.

You are sure, eh? I wonder where your certitude comes from, because I do not promote "free love hook-ups" much less belong to a "movement" and have never once had either uncommitted or unprotected sex. Although I don't object in principle to sex for purely recreational purposes between consenting adults who choose to do so, it is not for me personally. I have no idea where you get from that to unprotected sex which is an entirely separate issue.

As you can see, I don't do it in the first place.

I am not obligated to explain anything to anyone, but if you want to discuss your opposition to these things or why they are an existential threat, I am open to explaining my position, which may nor may not be what you think it is.

That may probably be true in Afghanistan, but then again, if u believe in God in Afghanistan and you date, then u r asking for bigger consequences. Interesting scenario.
