Yes, Tennessee. With one of the highest violent crime rates in the country. With one of the highest poverty rates in the country.
And... this is what the local lawmakers are doing...

A bill that would make the Holy Bible the official book of Tennessee was given approval in a legislative committee on Tuesday.
All of the Bible? Even the 'when it's okay to kill slaves and slutty daughters' parts?
Quote:
Gov. Bill Haslam and Attorney General Herbert Slatery expressed opposition to the bill last year. The attorney general said the legislation violates the state and federal constitutions.
Well, obviously.

The move to make the Bible the state's official book comes a month after Tennessee lawmakers approved a measure to make the Barrett M82 sniper rifle the official state rifle.
The Apostles = 1st century CE (allegedly)
KJV of the Bible written in 1611 - 1600 years after the alleged apostles.
How does that work then??
It was a jab at the KJV-only movement. Growing up IFB, I was taught to believe that the King James Version is the only inspired English Bible, and all others water it down. The KJV, per this belief, is the only English Bible translated from the texts actually used by the apostles. The saying is that "if the KJV is good enough for Peter and Paul its good enough for me."
Independent Fundamental Baptists are the most politically active and influential Christian group, so per them, the KJV would be the official version.
