Maybe you will learn some empathy for the crap that Muslims have been dealing with for years, a lot of it done by the same Christians protesting in this thread.
Is it really that hard to admit that some Christians are scumbags and pedophiles, why invoke the retroactive "not a Christian" excuses while simultaneously downplaying the pure evil of sexually molesting children.
Yes. It is that hard. Christianity teaches that if we claim to be Christians, then we will not continue in sin. We are still sinners, but we will not embrace evil deeds.
Because we have different definitions of what a "Christian" is. Being a Christian means one actually follows what Christ taught, and it means their life is actually changed by it. One is not a Christian simply by attending a church and maybe claiming to be one while doing the opposite of what Christianity teaches.
No indeed, the letters in support of this man AFTER the fact ARE "Christianity" (or rather, certain Christians) "protecting (a) rapist".
I'm sorry--I know nothing of the letters in support of him. But it should be evident based on our reaction that Christianity does not support his behavior.

Substitute Islam/Muslim for Christianity and Allah for Christ....and you will see the exact point being made in the post you quoted.

Your logic makes no sense. First you say all people are sinners, next you say that a person committing sins cannot be a Christian. Wouldn't this mean that no person can ever actually be a Christian?
You claim to be a Christian, you also claim that a Christian cannot continue in sin. Are you claiming that you have not committed any sins since becoming a Christian? Are you saying that you are no longer a sinner and that if you commit a sin at any point in the future, your status as a Christian will be retroactively and permanently revoked?

There's a difference between falling into sin and making a habit of diving into heinous sin habitually.

Please explain what the difference is and how you make this determination.
Have you sinned since becoming a Christian? If yes, how can you consider yourself to still be a Christian, but not a person like Hastert? What are the specific differences in your mind?
