Actually, their sin gave birth to the Moabites and Ammonite nations. They were not God's chosen people, and they were outside of his covenants.
So....your god is a racist too ? But did he not (supposedly) create all the different races (tribes) from Adam and Eve ?
Did he have that plottded out as well?
I could go on, but there's are much more interesting things to ponder......
The Lot story definitely has a strong creeper vibe to it. It reads like some kind of erotic fantasy written by a man really into the idea of a threesome with his young, hot daughters but knew his wife would object. Fortunately for Mr. Creepy, God comes along and gets rid of the pesky wife allowing Lot an opportunity to get busy with his offspring. The really creepy part of the story for me is the ludicrous claim that Lot was so wasted that he didn't even know he was having sex with his daughters, but his equipment was still fully functional. That is some top shelf Bravo Sierra right there, and more than a little date rapey to boot.
This, exactly.
Things just MAGICALLY fall into place for Lot to end up doing his daughters...in a totally faultless way...NO stone was unturned in this story in order to drive all these points home...I mean it couldn't have been written better unless at some point in the story, the cable repair man came bursting through the tent door shirtless just as Lot's daughters were collectively emerging from the shower.
I feel as if sometimes, mythological stories say more about the people inventing them than about anything truthful or even educational. For some stories, that's amusing; others, poignant; yet others...terrifying and repugnant.
Do you believe that we are commanded to follow that example? Or was it simply telling the story of what happened? Do you understand the difference?
Do you understand the difference? Because it seems often, Christianity cherry-picks what is "obviously allegory," what's "a colloquialism/matter of speech" v. what's "literal, don't try to sugar-coat things!", what's "just an illustration," what's "indicative of the time and place" and what's "the truth...now and forever...or else you all go to hell."
So, pastor, interesting question. I'll reflect on it. But then again, probably, so should you.

So....you don't, do you? When you read that Judas hung himself, and then you flip to another verse that says "Go and do likewise", do we need to worry about you? Do you realize that there is a difference between descriptive and prescriptive texts?
Potter can smash all the clay he wants, right pastor?
Might makes right in fundie-think.!
