I am trying to see What's Going On since I don't see it summed up elsewhere, but I am no expert in US affairs and am just a Moderator cut: orphaned Limey, really, so I value useful comments and input.
Relating to what I said about the "war on drugs", one of Nixon's aides did an interview toward the end of his life in which he came clean about the motivation for the "war". It was a way to discredit Nixon's perceived enemies in the eyes of the public and "vilify them nightly on the evening news". Those groups were "hippies and blacks". "We knew exactly what we were doing".
His children in fairness dispute the 1994 Harper's interview's accuracy, seeming to take it as an assertion that their father was a racist, which is not at all what that demonstrates. Nixon was the bigot (and even that was probably more informed by his paranoia and privilege than by actual race hatred); Ehrlichman has already been demonstrated to be Nixon's political lackey, and that's all he was being. My guess is that he was indifferent to how what he was implementing and supporting for Nixon impacted actual people, but it bothered his conscience towards the end.
What is it going to take to teach fundamentalist Christians that they don't make the law of the land, but the Constitution, SCOTUS rulings and Congress?

It interprets the law. But I doubt that cupper's semantic shortcut reflects a failure to understand that.
The open question between conservatives and liberals regarding that is how one interprets. Strict or loose constructionism / originalism is opposed to what originalists would decry as "judicial activism" because the interpretation is sufficiently situational / pragmatic / relativist that it is thought to defeat the "original intent" of the law. In that interpretation it would be up to Congress to change the laws themselves, not up to judges to change their meaning.
Personally I think it's entirely valid and even right that judges should apply modern understanding of justice to the generally less enlightened "intent" of past eras. I certainly would not want a judge interpreting slavery or indentured servitude or Jim Crow by the unenlightened standards of even the 1950s much less the 1850s or before. Morality is a societal construct that is always changing based, yes, on consensus. That's why we quit lynching blacks who try to vote or date outside their race, for example.
Your anti-American desire to institute a Theocracy in America is also anti-God. God wants VOLUNTARY compliance out of love of God and each other, NOT FORCED compliance by human laws. You and this judge are truly exhibiting the attitude of an anti-Christ, Vizio.
It's sad watching so many fundies going through the death throes of what they use to think was their "Gawd given right" to rule as they saw fit. Their thrashing about gets worse and worse the closer to the death of religion ruling the USA comes.
Sorry, but I can't think of anything the least bit sad about it. Considering the terrible damage these sick, delusional barbarians have inflicted on society, the countless innocent people who've been harmed by their hateful, bitter belief systems, and the incalculable loss of human potential that has been snuffed out by their trying to force an entire nation to live in the 12th Century, all I can do as I watch them pour gasoline over themselves and burn themselves to death is cackle with glee.

The Supremacy Clause (Article VI, Clause 2), gives Federal law supremacy over state law.

In Marbury v. Madison and Cohens v. Virginia, the Supreme Court held that the Supremacy Clause and the judicial powers granted by Article III give the SCOTUS the final say in deciding matters of Federal law, including Constitutional interpretation, and that it can overrule decisions made at the state level.

Have the Attorney general of the United states instruct ALL his attorney generals to refuse to prosecute criminals who are illegal and breaking the law. No longer shall you go after or prosecute people who break the lower drug laws, and let us laugh at the entire institution of illegal immigration, but wait, let's not stop there, let all the stupid colleges and professors teach ANTI AMERICA. Yeah, let's burn the stupid flag, and in fact, let's have our public schools and our colleges wave racist flags for black lives matter and let us build sanctuary places for all the supposed oppressed in our land and let us teach them well who our oppressors are.
