I'm talking about school locker rooms in the tens of thousands of high schools across this country where the people using them range from 12 to 19 years old. Everyone showers after sports practice. I was an athlete for my entire scholastic time period...I never saw a "private stall" shower in a male locker room...it was always "gang showers". The same when I was a soldier.
But now, with these laws, you could have 13 year old little girls, that have adopted a "male" mindset...naked and soaping themselves up standing right next to 18 year old men in the shower. And the schools will be legally mandated to have to allow this!
In my opinion, it just shows how gone-in-the-head the people that make our laws are.
Most girls and boys do not shower after gym. They are usually racing the clock to the next class. You were never forced to shower with other boys in sports. You were going home, and could just as readily shower there. You could wash up in the sink if you were really, really stinky.

Were you looking at other boys and men while you were supposed to be showering? If you were, you were not showering. You were being a voyeur.

Schools will have to adapt to the privacy needs of their students. I never understood the concept of "gang" showers. Time for schools to invest in shower curtains.

Your excuses are bogus, and much ado about nothing. You are not concerned about this. You are not wringing your hands. You are being disingenuous.

It doesn't matter. In my opinion...any law that would legally sanction that to ever be able to happen is about as bad as it gets.
Also...teenagers are roguish. You will get teen boys using that as a scam reason to go into the female facilities. That will happen, for sure!

Utter nonsense. If you are against equal rights for gays (or anyone else, for that matter) you were always my enemy. We just hadn't gotten around to fighting yet.

If you want to debate this using political ideologies as the frame of reference, let's have at it in Politics. For the purposes of this discussion, I'd rather stick to criticizing Christian fundamentalism rather than conservatism. Yes, the two go hand in hand, but i think it's better to focus on the religious aspect rather than the political here.

Odd there is not this level of hand wringing when non-trans teenage straights are looking at porn or using fake ID's to get into strip joints.

I NEVER didn't shower after practice, a game, a meet, or a match.
We all showered in a big "gang shower". EVERYONE did. They would have been consisdered a filthy slob if they didn't. I was never in any school that had any other kind of setup other than one common shower room with shower heads and controls every couple of feet along the walls. In bigger schools there would be dozens of them...with scores of people all showering at once. There were no "curtains".
You must not be very familiar with typical male locker room facilities in most schools.
Nobody was a "voyeur". But you could see everbody else the same as you would in any other setting...clothed or not.
I'm not being "disingenuous" or telling it any way other than how it actually was and is.

You certainly are being disingenuous.

Schools today must evolve with the needs of the students. The schools in my district do not have gang showers.

Ya know DDI, you just touched on sumthin' about this that hadn't thought about before.
If an adult was looking at naked children in any other setting or situation (other than medical treatment or child care), even pictures, let alone live...it would be a serious Felony, and they would be considered a sex-offender.

Were that true, which it is not, thousands of junior and senior high school athletic coaches (who see their players in various stages of dress in and out of the showers) would be facing felony charges.

Like I said...you made me look at this at an angle I hadn't ever thought about before.
I kinda see this in a different light now. Heck...the typical scholastic locker room is already a situation that would not be accepted under any other circumstance. And I am talking about SERIOUS criminal charges.
So...what's one more radical aspect to an already unique situation?
Bring in the 14 year old girls with their loofah, Olay moisturizing body wash, and Venus Swirl razor! Why not? It is actually less radical than the adult age male students being around naked little boys.
It all makes perfect sense to me now.

Excellent. Now I suggest you look at the porn/strip club angle which you did a very good job of ignoring. You're upset about the possibility of a teeny, tiny percentage of American students possibly getting a peek at a trans student's genitals....meanwhile MILLIONS of straight, non-trans teenagers are looking at porn and visiting strip clubs.
