Yes telling someone a lie is always the best way to do, preachers do it every sunday. Got to love the christian morality
That's a bit of a stretch. It's not lying if you you think you're telling the truth!
Heck, they could be right. It's not likely, but anything's possible, right?
not a stretch at all, preachers get up every sunday and make proclamations they have no evidence for or can even come close to substanciating.
if you are preaching, you are telling a lie.
Oh please, get over yourself. The whole point of faith is there is no evidence. It wouldn't really be faith if you could prove it.
In any case, preachers are not standing up there and deliberately misleading people. They are telling people what they believe, which is not lying. People don't go to church to hear the scientifically proven "truth" (I use quotation marks because I happen to believe that truth is incredibly subjective), they go to heard the preacher talk about what they believe.
Exactly right ! NO EVIDENCE so do not make claims that what your religion teaches is true, do not tell people they ARE going to hell, or WILL be saved, when in fact you believe it all with absolutely no evidence at all.
Faith is not to respected or endeared in anyways, faith is the same as saying ignorance is a good thing.

As much as I would admit that arguing with you is fun, it is really rather like talking to a broken record.
Funny that those who would claim to be the most open-minded are often really more closed-minded than many of their religious counterparts.

Hey, thanks!
I'm actually an athiest, but every time I come here- which is rare- I find myself wanting to deny it. Some of the folks on this forum are rabid!
It doesn't matter what your beliefs are, I get along with as many atheists as I do believers, and I am a believer.
They are in the minority, the rabid ones, but they think because they have the loudest voice and stand out more that they must be right. ( I am talking about both sides of the coin as well )
The loudest right and left wingers ruin the whole topic for everyone involved, almost every single time. "Do you believe in God?" "No not really. Wanna talk about it a little?" "Sure. Why not?" That, I think, is how these conversations should go. Rather than "You have no evidence for your fairy-tale lies, have fun being brainwashed stupid idiot!" "You are going to hell and satan will sodomize your sweaty little athiest pucker! Have fun burning, moron!"
What the hell, people? Can't we toss a few ideas around without turning into a jerry springer crowd?

Well we're both atheists but I think that sounds a little harsh. A lie by it's very definition is an attempt to deceive someone when you know you're not telling someone the truth. Clearly the great majority of preachers and ministers deeply believe in what they talk about on Sunday mornings so it really isn't accurate to say that's a lie. I agree with you that what they're saying isn't factual but that's a very different thing than lying.
