This came up in another thread and bears exploring...

Based on your own personal experience and beliefs,
what is the difference between wisdom and intelligence?

In your life, how do each of these serve you? And what pitfalls if any do you encounter in each of these?

Thank you as always for sharing your views and offering input.

Admitting that you could be wrong and learn from your mistakes.
I only truly learn from personal experiences.
Intelligence is still prone to the ego will wisdom is not.

Intelligence tells me that a forty story building is about 400 ft. high.

Wisdom tells me not to jump from the roof.

Intelligence says "This is how much I know."

Wisdom says "I still have alot to learn."

(But "knowledge" is also not the same as either "intelligence" or "wisdom".)

Intelligence is being able to create, or do, something. Wisdom is knowing the consequences creating, or doing, something. I have the Intelligence to build a Nuclear Bomb, but do I have the Wisdom not to build it?

Reword that:

Knowledge says "This is how much I know."

Intelligence says "I can put my knowledge to use."

Wisdom says "I know how or how not to put my knowledge to use."

or, wisdom knows the best way to use your intelligence and knowledge.

Intelligence is knowing how to build a nuke

Wisdom is knowing that having a nuke is more powerful than using one.

Intelligence will get us far in this world.

Wisdom will get us far in the world to come.

Intelligence is merely the ability to grasp facts and understand concepts at a high level. Wisdom is something that comes from experience and implies a deeper understanding that our actions may have far reaching consequences. I think it also says something about the maturity of our judgement.
