Atheism is the view that God does not exist or the absence of belief in the existence of gods.
So there would be no belief in a superhuman controlling power--especially in some sort of God--and no faith and worship.
Religion did not work for them and religious beliefs were fundamentally incompatible with what they would observe around them.
They would live their lives as though there is nobody watching over them. They believe that life has no purpose or meaning, it just is.
Atheists are often among the most intelligent and scientifically literate people in any society.

They don't believe in a supreme being is what makes them aethist. That's like saying no one who has committed murder is a christian.Because a christian would not committ murder.It is the same fear of christianity that drives the hate by atheist here in this nation.Otherwise why would they bother to even worry about christians;because they don't vote as you would like? Atheist just can get over the fact that they are getting no where because people have seen what they are capable of .
Believing in God, believing that you are God, believing that science & technology or any other philosophy makes you godlike (= enlightened) is all the same to me.
