What seems more likely is that the passage was written by a bloodthirsty priest.

Who told Abel to kill a lamb and eat it?
When did God ask Adam or Eve to sacrifice anything whatsoever?
Who told Abel or Cain to sacrifice anything whatsoever? Adam? Eve? That Lying Tongue?

Where did God tell Abel to go kill a lamb and it shall be for food?

Answer: Genesis 9:1-3 God didn't tell Abel, God told Noah and his sons; how many generations later? After the linage of both Abel and Cain was dead and gone...long after the line of Seth and Enos which was, "when men began to call upon the name of the Lord," unto Noah?

Abel and Cain = the beginnings of the traditions of men. And Abel was sacrificing lambs to fill his hungry belly; and God had respect for that. God did not require that, nor did he say it was better for you. And man's dominion became the fear and the dread of all the creatures upon the earth, which made your gods of bloody sacrifice very happy? and kept your bellies very happy, which may be one and the same.

Obviously He did tell them that or they wouldn't have known what to do. Adam was the first High Priest of G-d, and he was instructed in Torah. Just because it wasn't yet set to pen, didn't mean it wasn't communicated. In the beginning was the word/Torah. Peace

What Cain gave was representative of the work of his own hands (from the earth/flesh), which was under the curse put on Adam. What you see happening in Genesis is summed up this way later: faith (sacrifice of blood/spiritual realm) without works (the natural realm) is dead or death producing, and works without faith also warrants a death sentence. Without the shedding of blood, there is no remittance for sins. The flesh wars against the Spirit continually, the flesh continually tries to murder the Spirit of Christ (in us). Peace

Our carnality is the major stumbling block to our spirituality, but that is why we must overcome and endure. The carnality has NOTHING to do with pleasing or displeasing God. It is simply carnality.

I don't agree.

My spirituality embraces feedback from my senses. I believe we are to celebrate our gifts while inhabiting a gift-giving/receiving body.
