I have never been one for digging into theology, but what little I heard of Calvinism seemed the extreme of the doctrine of 'Why bother? It's all been decided, anyway'. it's what every aspect of Christianity seems to run up against, whether predeterminism, UR or Faith, not works - striving to be good enough is pointless, because it will get you nowhere, in the end.
Yes, I'm very well aware of this. It's called Calvinism. It's the "U" of TULIP:
Total Depravity (also known as Total Inability and Original Sin) Unconditional Election Limited Atonement (also known as Particular Atonement) Irresistible Grace Perseverance of the Saints (also known as Once Saved Always Saved)
God plays favorites in who he chooses. Nobody can explain why he chooses this one for heaven and condemns this other one to hell when he never called them in the first place. Talk about the deck being stacked against you from the cradle! So you can't respond to god's grace because god never called you, and then at judgment you're sent to hell through no fault of your own, just god's capricious will. I mean there's a lot to hate about Christianity but that boner goes to the top of the list for sheer evil, which is probably why screwball extraordinaires, John MacArthur and John Piper pipe this crap every Sunday morning.
I guess what you call Calvinism, I call Ephesians 1. I understand the desire to try and put me in a box just so it makes sense to you, but I could not care less about Calvin.
I don't know why you are complaining about the deck being stacked. You have been on C-D for years putting out information as to why the Bible is bad - which is essentially rejecting the testimony of God. And then you want to whine about God not choosing you. You are certainly not acting like you want to be chosen.
Maybe it's me - but if you want to be chosen by someone, you would want to make yourself appealing to the chooser. And in this case, you cannot please the Chooser without faith. Yet here you are repeatedly displaying your lack of faith in His Word, the Bible.
So if you are not interested in being chosen by God, keep doing what you are doing and stop whining about it. If you want to change course, then start having faith in Him.

I'd be happy to believe in Jesus if you could just show me some concrete evidence outside the Bible he was the son of God. I've said that hundreds of times here but nobody has ever been able to do it. The only proof they offer is what you offer: "I walk with him and I talk with him and he tells me that I am his own. He gives me this warm fuzzy feeling in my heart when I pray to him. I know, I definitely know it's Jesus filling me with his Holy Spirit. " Hell, I know people who tell me the same thing about Harry Potter. "He walks with me and talks with me and tells me I am his favorite wizard and gives me this warm fuzzy feeling in my heart every time I read "Goblet of Fire".
I said before, Rob, if you're comforted by this warm fuzzy feeling in your heart every time you talk to Jesus, go for it. I'm for anything--drugs, sex, rock and roll, booze and even Jesus if it helps you get through this miserable life with your sanity intact.

Can't give you evidence, other than what is recorded. God wants faith.

Here it is again, the way it always ends up "If you want evidence of God, brainwash yourself into Faith. That'll be the evidence".
It isn't good enough. Not nearly good enough.
P.s And Ephesians? Even if it is actually by that used car salesman Paul, I wouldn't trust him for the right time of day. That's if the passage is even being read correctly. I've seen a few bits of Paul that Christians seem to misunderstand.

It was obvious. self -brainwashing. We have seen it so often, we don't need to spell it out.

And again. The audience is starting to laugh.

And it never dawned on you or Christians in general that this policy of "God wants only faith" was put in place 1800 years ago by men who, when asked to produce just a little evidence that all the stories circulating about Jesus were true, couldn't produce any and so their only default position was to say, "You don't need evidence, only faith."
So at the end of the day you have faith in Jesus without evidence and I cannot believe in Jesus because there is no evidence. Where does that leave us, except for me to believe you're a naive fool and for you to believe I'm destined for hell--all based on faith for you and lack of any such belief in such for me because there isn't a shred of evidence to support it?

Fundies mostly have faith that Other People will go to hell.
Or maybe it's more of a fervent hope.
