So your conscience has never been even remotely influence by any external factors - not your family upbringing, your exposure to what has gone on in society around you, nothing?
Loud like a pack of feral dogs.
Its just ego.
God is the still quite voice, distinctly different.
Some say God consciousness is just an inner ideal. Not so.
If i offer you 2 choices, one good one bad, picking the good is simple.
If I make both choices good, then what?
I know the ego all too well.
I also know the voice of the Holy Spirit or God....by whatever name.
Rationalizing something is good when it is not is ego.
Simply doing the right thing....God's coaching. (Conscience?....the point of the thread.)
*Rule of thumb...If you want to do something it's probably bad.
If you don't want to do something ...it's probably good and right.
It's located in the lateral frontal pole of the prefrontal cortex. Most specifically in the right hemisphere. Helps us discern right from wrong and helps us to evaluate the wisdom of our actions. Helps us to avoid acting out on impulses that might not be benificial.
It is a component of the brain only found in humans.
I guess it wasn't working when you killed Bernice Worden and Mary Hogan.
I wouldn't call it the literal voice. But it is definitely how the spirit works in us.
Ah, i think you're onto something...yes, i would agree on that...the conscience
wants us to do the right thing...it is how the Spirit or spirit works in us....or the Higher Self?
That thing that is not the lower ego self?
I don't have answers, btw, just suppositions.
Your humanity, or lack of it, is your conscious. I really like the idea that if you feel harmed by an action, or potentially be harmed by it, why would you perpetrate that action on someone else? That is all you need to follow. Be kind to others, as you want others to be kind to you.
Simple, no extraterrestrial entity needed, is there?
My conscience is not 'me', Miss H, per se...I know that because 'me' wants to slap someone upside the head...also, from when I was a child...my
conscience was an adult presence inside; a wise telepathic voice...
and I was very aware of 'something else' looking out of my eyes...not the 5 yr old that I was ...an Observer...
an Over Seer.
Too much information? Maybe for some poo-poohing my 5 yr old memories that are like yesterday.
So, what is the conscience...that thing that Jeffrey Dahmer did not have?
This is God related so not in psychology.
Imho, it's your own soul that you became aware of at an early age. Our soul, which is encased in a spirit body inside of our physical body, has it's own faculties, which are called "soul perceptions." Once we become in tune with our soul, in the beginning we can see that it's slightly different than who we are as humans. Our soul is sweet and gentle and it has it's own mind... or "voice" as it were.
Our inner conscience is different than God, who is on the outside of us, but as we receive more and more of God's essence, His Divine Love, inside of our soul, then our soul begins to think as God thinks... our soul begins to Love as God loves. We become like God in our attributes. Eventually, our soul becomes transformed in purity and holiness and at that point, we become at-one with God... in other words, we are like God's equal, but we will never become God or possess all of His powers.
I guess it wasn't working when you killed Bernice Worden and Mary Hogan.
When that 'ole ghrelin gets too high...………….the lateral frontal pole of the prefrontal cortex don't have a chance.
