We can get distracted by pretty things ...as children we can get hurt and push another down in the sand box...

I think your essence is pure and innocent. Mine, too.
We go astray sometimes, not always..and our conscience gets to us.
Some in prison have been so wounded by others that their thinking is clouded with their pain that has turned into anger.
But, inside deep in their hardened heart is still a pure little kid..
Note: This isn't in the Christian section so I think we all know Bible quotes.
The question is clearly do YOU think...YOU....not what someone else thought and wrote. Are we weak? Sure...but , born wicked? That's the question here.

Since we can make free-will choices then we are Not born wicked.
Unless damaged, we come equipped with an inborn conscious as a guide.
Also, our imperfect hearts are treacherous because the heart urges us to do something, and after we do something then the heart gives us all the reasons why we should Not have done what we did in the first place.
I've met, and worked with people who seemed to have low moral standards and the no ethics.
I don't know if their heart is wicked though. The heart is a pump that moves blood trough your body.
We have a figurative heart, our inmost self.

I am on the same page as you there. The only difference is that i think in terms of Instinct and social education in Human ethics, not religious doctrine.
