GOP Lawmaker Matt Shea Releases Christian Manifesto Calling For Biblical Law
NOVEMBER 1, 2018 BY MICHAEL STONE

GOP lawmaker calls for Biblical law: Washington state Rep. Matt Shea publishes manifesto calling for the execution of all males who refuse to follow “Biblical law.”

In a disturbing development, Washington state Rep. Matt Shea releases a four-page Christian manifesto titled “Biblical Basis for War.” The document calls for “Biblical law”, and suggests that those men who support gay marriage and abortion rights should be executed.

NBC News reports on the four page manifesto released by Shea:

It’s a radical Christian call to arms, outlining 14 steps for seizing power and what to do afterward in explicit detail. It calls for an end to abortions, an end to same-sex marriage, and if enemies do not yield and everyone obey biblical law, all males will be killed.

Vice News reports:

Washington state Rep. Matt Shea admitted Wednesday that he wrote and distributed the four-page document, called the “Biblical Basis for War,” which includes 14 sections on how biblical war can and would unfold. Shea, a Republican who represents Spokane in the state’s House, is up for re-election in the midterms next week. He did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Rep. Shea’s Christian manifesto calling for Biblical law states:

If they do not yield – kill all males.

Sharia, Sharia law, or Islamic law (Arabic: شريعة‎ (IPA: [ʃaˈriːʕa])) is a religious law forming part of the Islamic tradition.[1] It is derived from the religious precepts of Islam, particularly the Quran and the Hadith. In Arabic, the term sharīʿah refers to God's immutable divine law and is contrasted with fiqh, which refers to its human scholarly interpretations. It has been described as "one of the major intellectual achievements of Islam" and its importance in Islam has been compared to that of theology in Christianity.

Sharia law calls for the execution of apostates.

Can there be any question that religion is humankind's greatest threat to the goal of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?

Mensa is very thoughtful, but I am the member who was inside One WTC on 9/11, and no pictures can shock or upset me. (They do some survivors, though, so don't apply my feelings to that of any other survivor you may ever encounter.)

What happened that day was not about "religion" but about human beings using religion to create an Us v Them, We Are Right/They Are Wrong And Therefore Must Be Punished dynamic using the mask of religion to gain followers and minions to carry out attacks against other parts of humanity.

In this case, it was not Religion vs. Religion, because Muslims, Jews, Christians, Hindus, Pagans, Buddhists, atheists, and everyone else were the victims. It was a mindset against a culture they perceived, rightly or wrongly, to have made grievous acts against them, and they used the veneer of religious righteousness to gain support for their cause.

In case you missed it, I've mentioned about fifty times on this forum that since That Day I have written and spoken out against the Us v Them mentality and the damage it can do. I urge all people to seek commonalities rather than focus on differences and to learn to see people as individuals instead of as members of groups to which false assumptions about them can then be assigned.

What this Congressman is doing is shameful and very much in line with that Us v Them mentality, but by broadly sweeping all religious people under the same umbrella, so are you! Part of my song-and-dance is that the answer to such actions is NOT to become just like they are.

You have been on this forum long enough that you are aware that Matt Shea's way of thinking is not applicable to all Christians, or even most. I doubt very much that even the Christians on this forum who identify as "fundamentalist" would go as far to call for the execution of people who don't follow biblical law (though I can think of two or three who likely would be OK with that).

This is good exposure, though, and hopefully, people of all religions, or none, will see the danger in allowing people like this in leadership positions, speak out to squelch them, and most importantly, remove them from such positions.

Looks like another provocation to discredit a major religion and seed fear of it in the crowd.

Besides, he's simply a small peanut out in small rural town....

Let the small peanut grow into a large tree with many branches and roots. Surely, it will fall under its own weight in time, but not after littering the ground with deadly detritus and casting a greater and greater shadow until that final time.

It is important to educate the monster from its infancy with critical thinking until the monster is freed from bondage to its own grotesque iniquities and superstitions.

Bad analogy. No peanut is EVER going to grow into a tree, lol. This is what a peanut crop looks like:

For most of human history, those who differed from the beliefs of the majority in their society were subject to being eliminated, often in very hideous way. That should, in and of itself, be more than enough to seed a fear of religion. It is not my intent to discredit a major religion. It is my intent, in this age of weapons of mass destruction, to discredit religion in general as a clear and present danger to the concept of the peaceful coexistence of humans with other humans. But NOT through the threat of the use of force or violence. As it turns out religion can rather easily be systematically undermined simply by shining a light on the unrealistic, illogical, self contradictory, immoral and archaic silly nonsense that the various religious beliefs espouse.

I have to agree that this is an isolated nut - in no way to be used to tarnish even the general run of Right wing Genesis -literalist creationists.

Patheos.com
The document Mr. Shea wrote is not a Sunday school project or an academic study. It is a ‘how to’ manual consistent with the ideology and operating philosophy of the Christian Identity/Aryan Nations movement and the Redoubt movement of the 1990s.

The goal of these groups has always been to create a white homeland consisting of Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Oregon and Washington. The ideas presented in the (biblical war) document are how these groups intend to seize control, by force, should there be a governmental collapse or civil war.

Perhaps just a LITTLE tarnish remover might be necessary to remove the tarnish of decades of right wing religious racist hatred. I'm sure they were only kidding, after all.

Well I'll leave that to you - we have our own Right wing Christian Fundamentalist racists to deal with here - they're called "Brexit".
