If my OB/GYN even once called my baby a parasite in anything but a joking manner, I would have found a new one. That is a horrible stance for a doctor who delivers babies to have. And on your latter post, unborn babies CAN feel pain. I'd like to know where your OB/GYN got their degree!
I agree with you Ms. Martha. Sometimes you end up with a bad MD. Taboo's sounds like a eugenicist.
Again, my OB/GYN called the thing inside of me a parasite when i felt it was a baby. He said it takes what the baby (parasite) needs from the mother and the fetus/baby will never suffer, the mother (host) will suffer. He called it this when i was 20 weeks along and he told me to not worry about the baby because it was essentially a parasite living off of me and would be just fine if i was unable to eat properly.
Yes, it is a parasite in the clinical sense of the word. You don't have to think of it that way, but technically it is.
P.S. The body does NOT eject OR kill all parasites, tapeworms live for up to 30 years in the human body.
True, the body does not eject or kill all parasites. It is not always able. The important thing is that it TRIES TO, that it WANTS TO. It's just not always successful.
I am not for abortion, but you have to know, a baby lives in a parasitic state in the mother's body. All nutrients will be shuffled over preferentially to the baby (over the mother). And until about 20 weeks, it cannot survive (with our current technology) outside the mother.
Maybe you are considering the word parasite too much in its derogatory connotation?
Parasite: an organism that grows, feeds, and is sheltered on or in a different organism while contributing nothing to the survival of its host
I am very much aware of what a parasite actually is and I actually know a few people who have referred to their own unborn babies as parasites, I just wouldn't EVER want my OB to refer to my baby that way. It is very unprofessional. I also would never go to an OB who performed abortions. I just want to make sure that my OB's primary focus is on the well-being of my child.
Fetus, I can live with. Parasite, that's just crude.
lol well I guess I can see the simplistic connection but I don't know why anybody would connect it let alone say it like it's fact. Let me give you a basic biology lesson.male and female organism of a sexual speicies produces cells with half it's chromozones that are made tto join in the female body. The unborn is a part of the mother and father not a parasite

I didnt mention a thing about pain, are you confused with another poster?
Oh and this was at Kaiser who is known for NOT giving abortions and he was a HIGH RISK OBGYN and the best in my snooty ultra expensive town.
I would never have changed him out. He was given to me because i had a death in the family and they were worried in case i could not take care of myself and he was making ME FEEL BETTER about the baby SURVIVING just fine whether i ate enough or screamed and cried all day and night.
It is a parasite. I currently am pregnant again and it is again, A PARASITE. But a very cute one from the looks of my ultrasounds. I love my parasite!
I would never tell a woman she couldn't have an abortion. IT is NOT my business to tell another person what to do with their body. I wouldn't force chemo on a cancer patient if they chose not to have it.

Taboo, no parasite has half your dna- ever! You will never find a parasite that has your "dimples" or your husband's "big brown eyes" (LOL!). Your MD is wrong. He was trying to be clever and say it has parasitical qualities. But then, so does a breast-feeding newborn. Or any baby for that matter. Anybody who dosen't pay their own way at any age is called a "parasite".

Exactly . . . no baby (or fetus) is parasitic . . . because it has the DNA of the Mother. It is NOT an unrelated organism . . . which ALL parasites are.
Abortion is murder... that's what's wrong with it.
